Return of the chicken wing.  For the life of me I can't seem to get my arm to stay straight.   I still think my timing is off.  I am always open to suggestion.

Brick - Thanks for the detailed explanation of why things happen in my approach and delivery.  Honestly I thought I was pushing the ball out on my 2nd step, (before I saw the vid).

Not bad charky, if you work on what he pointed out and keep in mind what i pm'd you about then you should be good.

As for myself, there is no help for me.

Nice video. People shouldn't hate on the Beastie Boys.
Is there something preventing you (mental or physical) from keeping your arm straight on your downswing? I always bent my arm during my first two years bowling but in time (and some arm strength) I was able to correct my problem.

And unlike Capt. Backswing and Jamie Reid (ask Next Level PS who he is ) my swing is low...

Yeah.  Mainly pushing out on my third step of a five-step approach instead of the second step.  As someone explained it, since my timing is off I am bending my arm to catch up with my feet.

I just have to mentally get myself to push out on the second step and keep practicing it.  As I may have mentioned, I corrected it one week but had no video.  Now unfortunately, I'm back to the same of me.    More practice is what I need and maybe a little personal coaching.

Its more textbook to go off the second step but if thats not comfortable for you then make one little adjustment. the later timing might not be as bad as you think. you can actually develope more lift and possibly leverage on the ball. straighten out the arm and and do what you do. a good exmaple of this later timing stuff if you ever watch doug kent watch what he does it will give you an idea.

Bomb300, There will be some people on this site that will disagree and some may even beat me up for what I say here, but if so. so be it....I used to do exactly what you are doing for several years and I was a pretty good bowler. Then I started reading too many books on how a person is supposed to do everything and tried to correct my steps/swing "according to the book". That was one of the worse mistakes I ever made as I had bowled for too many years bending my elbow, to change. Now, with you being younger, you may be successful at changing, I don't know. Although a little different than you, Earl Anthony bent his elbow. Brian Voss bends his a bit today. There are others, but these two are the first that come to mind at the moment. I currently bowl with one man that is left handed and bowls exactly like you and he carrys a 218 average. He has perfected what he does and is a successful bowler. Wish I hadn't read one single book and perfected what I was doing back then.

Brick,

I would tend to believe what you say but after having corrected the problem one week, my approach, delivery and follow through was smooth, I generated more ball speed and hit my mark on my favore down and in shot.  I was actually comfortable rolling the ball.

I am inconsistent the way I bowl now.  Even thought I carry a 215 average on my Thurs. night league, I tire easily because I am actually pulling the ball up instead of letting the ball swing freely into position and there's no way I could finish a scratch tourney the way I roll now.

If I didn't love bowling so much and didn't spend money on new equipment, I wouldn't care and not worry about the chicken wing.  But I want my 300 Game form back and eventually bowl in the Hawaii TV Bowling tourney.

I sincerely appreciate everyones input.  This weekend I hope to have new vid.  Plus I have an Impuse Zone, an Absolute and a Rhino Pro Teal on order but I don't want to drill them out until I have corrected my issues.

Maybe one day I will be able to give BrunsNick a run for his money.

Bomb, if changing your swing to how it should be done and it is working, that is great. Keep up the good work.
