Blast Zone for me tomorrow...***Update***
« on: October 28, 2007, 12:27:02 PM »
Specs in my profile

The Blast Zone is already drilled like this:

---P-------
---O--O----
-----------
------CG---
-----------
-----O----MB

What should I expect this to do ? I'm only moving the thumb back as the fingers fit well

with your pap coordinates, it should end up close to 6". it will give you length but with a very controlled move. could be awesome playing down and in on shorter shots.

***Update***

Bowling on a well oiled THS. Brunswick syn lanes with out of bounds past 5.. Shot seems wetter tonight then usual.

I tired the ball in ODB  for the first game. Very mild arch with not much reaction. Tried a couple of different lines. The ball had a bunch of flare lines on it, so I thought it might have been over flaring. I bowled like sh!t needless to say.

So I took the ball in the shop and and hit it with Legends High Gloss Polish. The ball then became the a huge skid/flip monster. Not what I was expecting at all. It still was reading the mids, but a very hard move off the dry. No real over under though. I ended up shooting 19x, 19x for the last 2 games in the set. I guess the new ball syndrome got ahold of me...lol

As far as reaction the ball is way to strong in ODB. Not sure if anyone could use this thing in box condition. As far as shiny, its was a nice reaction, but no whats expected for a particle ball. Maybe 2000 or 4000 matte will work better for me.

Hit wise, it was avg I would say. No messengers really. Lights hits didn't carry at all. If the ball hit flush, pretty much a strike. If I hit high on the head pin I would ring 10's all night.

...but I'm not disappointed really, I;m really looking forward to putting some more surfaces on this and giving it a go.

Hope this wasn't league... call me old fashioned if you will, but the ONLY thing you're legally allowed to do, other than using approved ball cleaners to clean a ball during competition, is to toss it in a "luster king" type machine.

The ball had gotten a few belts marks on it, so I went in to clean them off

Didnt matter anyways...19x is aways under my avg.. I pretty much gave the other team the win when I keep using the ball..lol

Seriously... it's remarks like "didn't matter anyways...19x is aways under my avg..." that make me wonder why there is any integrity left in bowling at all.

BTW... the skid/flip nature of this ball is likely due to the strength of the MB.  If you wanted a long, continuous arc, you should have looked at a super symmetrical layout. something more like 4.5" x 6.5" to MB, pin 1.5 above midline.

I'm pretty sure the Blast Zone is NOT a particle ball, just a hybrid mix of solid and pearl activator cover.
