I think that Bruiser is drilled that way because of a "pin in" type of ball, as the pin is pretty far from the big B logo. I could be wrong.

I remember looking at an Ebonite Drill sheet that showed this layout. It was quite awhile ago, it was for extremely early roll(HI JACK).

It would be interesting to try, put I think you'd have to polish the crap out of it for anything less than medium conditions.

It's a variation of a Rev Leverage drill. Put the pin 1 inch above the midline under the ring finger with the C.G swung right in line with the pin. It only works best on a 0-2 inch pin and promotes very early roll with a strong backend, or gives a skid/snap reaction for extremely high speed players.
