Title: Brunsnick.com with Firefox???
Post by: mogators on July 05, 2007, 02:59:07 PM
I finally made the switch over to Firefox (2.0.0.4) and can't seem to get Nick's videos to play in the browser with it.  They work fine in IE.  Has anyone gotten the vids to work with Firefox?  I'm thinking maybe I need to download some extra codecs or change some setting in the options.
Thanks

Just click on the link that says download video, and the select open in Windows Media Player, instead of save to disk.

as long as you have windows xp service pack 2 or newer....

download this

http://port25.technet.com/archive/2007/04/16/windows-media-player-plug-in-for-firefox.aspx

Its an official microsoft release and there is a download location just underneath the picture (in a sentence, says something like WMP firefox plugin-download)

It allows media player to run in firefox so firefox is once again >opera/any other browser

I have firefox and I also have a problem with some of the Putfile stuff.  Not all of it, some of it.

Just curious, when you guys say it doesn't play, does it just show a blank screen? Green screen? Audio only? Or nothing?

I'd like to optimize it so everyone can view it without problems. If anyone has an idea, go ahead and send it my way. Just omit the "host it on youtube and embed it" one, the quality of the vids is subpar.

The player screen opens, but the screen stays white. And in the bottom corner where you would normally see the download progress, it just says done.  Works fine in IE, but not in Firefox.

As posted by husker fan, the link for that download fixes the issues in firefox. Download it, install it, reopen firefox and there you go, working windows media player embedded videos.

This is a problem that many new browsers run in to.  When many of these sites were created, there were written on and for Internet Explorer, because they ere the biggest browser then.  Now newer browsers, such as Firefox, can't keep up, and don't "agree," if you will, with those particular web sites.

Thanks for all the responses.  I went with Huskerfans download link and it seems to be working perfectly for me.
