Local Tournament Arsenal
« on: February 05, 2007, 04:53:08 AM »
I'm revamping my arsensal, thinking of this (Heavy down to Light):

OPTION A.

1. TOTAL INFERNO
2. ORIGINAL INFERNO
3. SMOKIN' INFERNO
4. TARGET ZONE

OPTION B.

1. TOTAL INFERNO
2. VAPOR ZONE
3. RED ZONE
4. TARGET ZONE

Any suggestions? Don't see much extreme conditions, so would like to keep number of balls down to preferrably 4 or 5 at the most.

thanks.

1. Scorchin INFERNO
2. ABSOLUTE INFERNO
3. SMOKIN' INFERNO
4. SPARE

Is what I carry to most tourneys and has worked well for me.  I havent used a Total but I need the Scorchin because some of the local houses put down a flooded house shot for tournaments.  I also prefer the Inferno line over the Zones so would go with an Absolute.  If you wanted to go with a 5th ball, the Original is a good choice for a benchmark ball, if you really needed something under the Smoking though, I would go with a Power Groove, to me the Punisher is just too strong on dry or burnt lanes.

My suggestion: a slightly different OPTION A:

1. TOTAL INFERNO OOB
2. RED ZONE w/o polish, high grit sheen surface (e.g. 4.000 Abralon)
3. SMOKIN' INFERNO OOB
4. TARGET ZONE

Under the Smokin', a light conditio ball like a Power Groove, Punisher or Rampage would IMHO still fit. But I'd have at least one solid reactive ball in the bag, as a control piece.

In the tournaments I bowl in we rarely see heavy oil, and when we do, it's SOUP, so it doesn't matter what ball you're using, you still have to point it off the corner.

I would make sure to take something weak in your bag.  Been many a time, when I've cashed using a Tropical Storm or Super Beast, when everyone else can't keep their hooking monsters on the left or right side of the headpin.

Just an option for you.

If it were me, I'd go with Option B, except I'd drop the Vapor in favor of something in the BVP line, like a Rampage or a polished Wizard.  Three different covers, and three different looks.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I like, dizzyfugu's idea of having at least one solid reactive ball in the bag, as a control piece.  Also, like bracket creep's idea of three different covers, and three different looks.

So i believe i'm going to go with variation of option A. I like the look of it.

OPTION C.

1. TOTAL INFERNO
2. RED ZONE
3. SMOKIN' INFERNO
4. TARGET ZONE

Later on, i can also add a light oil ball, PG or PUNISHER or RAMPAGE if needed.

cheers
