Brunswick Edge Solid vs Melee Hook
« on: November 23, 2017, 12:59:11 PM »
At our house the Melee Hook is one of the few balls that seem to give many lefties decent results.

Anyone out here been able to use the Melee Hook and compare to the Brunswick Edge Solid?
They look almost the same regarding specs with only a difference in covestock name and maybe results appears to exist.

Brunswick experts?

In my estimation the Melee Hook is slightly more smooth at the breakpoint.  The Edge Solid would be a good replacement, as would the Magnitude .035.  As usual, these are easily fine-tuned with coverstock adjustments to match up with conditions.

Last spring I had a fellow bowler who came to me for a suggestion.  He had only thrown balls from one company for years.  He tried the Edge Solid and it quickly replaced his other stuff.  He has since purchased the Edge Pearl with the same layout for his 1-2 punch on house shots.  He LOVES them.  They both provide great motion that is a nice match for his game.

I had the Melee Hook as wanting to see a little more oil (Med/Heavy) than the Edge Solid (Medium).

Thanks for the answers!  I have a C System Max that at times has been great but USUALLY has too much natural bite in the coverstock surface....for the amount of oil.

Does carry quite deep compared to much of my stuff however.

Anyone able to compare to the Hook and the Edge?

Brandon,

Great question. I have all but the Versa!

In this instance I was talking of the pin in and pin under Maxxed out blue!

How close I wonder to the Edge.
