As a result of the incredible response to the new Brunswick balls, we must delay the launch of the Fortera Exile and Melee Cross. The initial orders have exceeded our expectations, and we must set a new Universal Release Date for the Fortera Exile and Melee Cross to Friday, June 27, 2014.

Thats unusual for a summer release. Is the Reax Gusto going to be affected?

Reax Gusto is not affected.
It's very unusual for a summer release, but the distributor response for those two balls have far exceeded our expectations. We will get caught up, it's our #1 priority.

Exile is a high performance ball. The best way to confirm this is by going to Brunswicks website. Also check by price on most of the online retail sites.

The Exile looks like a beast, but how could Brunswick be so overwhelmed by the amount of balls pre-ordered when they are one of the biggest distributors out there?
Not judging them by any means because I loved the Inferno series and the Zones, but I'd think they'd know a ball like this would have people drooling.

Maybe overseas distributors. When I checked two in the U.S. while looking for closeouts they advised they hadn't had any call for high demand on them.
I loved the look of mine when it came in. The Guesto too.

I have to say, big B is stepping up their game. Mastermind line looks awesome, Exile looks downright dirty. Keep it up, Nick.

Hey Nick, did you or any one else here have any or heard of of any reported problems with the original Melee?
Now, im a proshop operator, so when the Brunswick/DV8/Radical Seminar came up to the New England Area (HARTFORD,CT) to promote last years lineup of balls, including the Melee, Mastermind, Ruckus, Dude, and Reax V2 etc. They had a little roll a way raffle in which i won a Melee, and I absolutely LOVE that ball. Basic 60/3.75/30 drilling but that ball gives me awesome everything. But now all the ones that we got in from our distributor (Bowlers Supply in York PA) apparently had coverstock issues
Not in terms of cracking or longevity.... But in terms of the ball not hooking an inch. It wouod flare like a SOB but would react on even the easiest of house shots like a mild core urethane.... I kept chalking it off to either bad bowlers, maybe my boss layed it out wrong for so and so, until i heard it from other proshops in CT, and even from the most loyal BIG B staffers... Was there perhaps a bad run that came through by mistake of the original Melees...?
Im wondering if thats perhaps a possibility, because as i said i got mine straight from the brunswick seminar, and its awesome, not to mention im a very low rev bowler.....

My second part to that question. Is if others have seen of this same issue that i spoke of, or heard of it, is that something that the brains over at Brunswick have taken into considration with the new Melee Cross?
I ask only because, i need to drill up this ball, but want to make sure that I'll see enough seperation between the two. The red Melee i usually keep at 1,500-2000 with clean and dull, as i found it to be too clean with the box royal shine.
But i also am curious to see if and what brunswick did to eliminate any of the problems that we and many other shops have seen with the red Melee's cover not reacting to the dry. (myself being one of the few not included)

Funny you say that......my Melee hooks about an arrow less than my platinum Ringer!! I just started using the Melee on the dry stuff.....works well for the burn but not much else.

My Melee was on par with my Slingshot and well under my Platinum. Had a friend tell me the exact same thing. Was very disappointed considering the price of the Melee. He said the LT48 was everything he had hoped for in the Melee.

Isnt that weird though?? Im mean to push a new ball by marketing it as the new and improved versa max is obviously a smart means of marketing, but from what ive seen as a proshop operator/driller/ and over all a huge fan and spectator of the sport, i think I'm the only person (note: that Im talking from just what ive seen) that can actually back up that claim as it being a cleaner stronger backending versa max.... And actually I cant honestly say it had more backend or entry angle as the versa, i couod just compare them as being somewhat similar in total hook, however i saw about 3/4 boards more backend out of the versa than the melee. but then again this is not a true OOB comparison. Because OOB the versa was the T*TS, whereas the Melee's OOB surface was WAAAAAY too long. (and it was our typical freshly oiled 41' house shot) so although the shot was the consistent for both balls, my comparison is not 100%, i had to the completely adjust the surface on my Melee immediately after a few practice shots by bringing it down to 500/800/1500 and added a small hole just about 1/2 inch down my VAL, although it was just at the legal static limit prior, i really wanted both balls to have identical layous.
I hate ball comparisons that say both layouts are the exact same, when one clearly has a flare/diff increasing weight hole and the other has no hole, or worse one up towards tge true P1 location. How is it that bowlers that r well versed enough to upload some great quality ball vids, still dont understand the Huge roll characteristics that r directly affected by simple weight hole variances???? You alwatpys here nonsense like "because this balls higher rg value, u can clearly see how clean it pushes down lane, and vise versa. Theres been GREAT studies shared on Bowlingchat that weight holes provide much more real world differnce when comparing two similar balls vs rg differences.

Some people loved the Melee. A friend and I were not in that bunch. If it was a cover snafu that would make sense. Since that info was not released I doubt that changes now. I continue buying slingshots and strike kings but will not buy another Melee original.

I had two Melee's and didn't care for either on. The LT-48 is a much better ball in my opinion and had the reaction I expected from the Melee. I thought the Versa Max was a much better ball than the Melee. Just my $.02, Bruce

My LT-48 has been nothing short of awesome. The Melee needed a little TLC on the cover to bring it to life.

I personally thought the Melee was a bit too mellow, so mine did not get much use. It still hooked, but didn't have the problem you were seeing. My girl loves hers, very smooth and strong, great for playing out.

Ive also heard from others the lt48 is what they expected in the melee. I will have an lt48 to start the year.

About an arrow stronger, plus I can open up my angles better.

I love the Melee. I use mine quite often yet. For me it was more angular than the Versa. I could get deeper easier and carry better with the Melee.
also, have to agree with Nick. The Cross so far is at least an arrow Stronger.

What conditions is the cross good on?

The Cross will be best used on medium to heavy volume patterns.

Just saw the Fortera Unique online. Likely the super soaker release for overseas markers.

Is the the Blue Ringer a nice step down from the Melee Cross but still above the red Melee?
I guess im just wondering were the Blue Ringer fits into the new brunswick lineup? Im probably going to be drilling up either the Cross or the Blue Ringer as well as a Gusto to tackle this years THS League....
On a side note.... I just plugged an old Twisted Fury Pearl which has always been one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES and drilled it up with my new pitches and layout (30x4x35) to accomadate my ever changing PAP lol. And killed it the past two weeks on Autobahn 42' Im hoping that the Gusto is going to have a very similar shape as the Twisted Fury did just obviously stronger due to todays drastic improvement in coverstock composition.... Nick do you think id get a similar shape with the Gusto as compared to the great Twisted Fury Pearl?

The Blue Ringer Solid hooks a touch more than the Melee and is smoother in shape.

Gusto vs TF might be close actually, but it's been a long time since I've thrown a TF.

So at least you're thinking along the same lines as i am correct, Nick? Im not sure of the TF's core specs and am too lazy to look em up, but i believe it had a very mild diff, but not sure at all what the int diff was... But it did provide an effortless length with a very strong hard arc off the friction, which is what im seeing thus far in gusto vids.
How would u say the Gusto is in comparison to the V2 pearl in terms of total hook, length, and backend?
