For HEAVY OIL the Mammoth will be good, but I had to change the surface from 400 grit (factory) to 1000 grit before I liked it. At 400 it was way too early!

The factory surface will need a bowler with very high ball speed AND no revs.

My favorite particle ball from Brunswick is still the Ambush with the polish knocked off. The lower particle load helps me create more room on the lane with increased angle to the pocket.

I have to disagree with your opinion on a bowler needing speed or no revs. I throw the ball around 16mph and even though I dont know my rev rate, I would say I get at least 10-11 turns. I used my Mammoth in out of box surface on oil and if you look at my post I would say it matched up OK. My ball was drilled 4x4 with the pin 2 inches above the mid line. The ball rolled very well on a shot I couldn't get my Robo Rule to move on in the past.

Generally speaking, the Mammoth, being a high-load particle, should be a bit better on truly heavy oil. My Hawgzilla likes to be rolled in the oil, but I don't know if it has enough bite to truly be a soup ball.

Okay Shipper,

I will agree with you, as long as you've got HEAVY OIL. But most everyone is adjusting the surface on this one to make it fit their game better, but apparently not you, that's okay.
Getting a ball to move, and getting a ball to hit and carry corners are sometimes two different things, though. Mine hit harder after smoothing it out a bit, that's all.
But make no mistake, the Mammoth is designed for lots of oil!!!!!

Thanks everybody for your responses. I was leaning towards the Mammoth because i was afraid the HawgZilla went to long in the oil...I've already have that in my BlackWidow. So I guess I will be ordering me a Mammoth and getting ready for tournament time.

In OOB condition the Hawgzilla is not an oiler. Medium Heavy at best. The mamoth is a good oiler for the right player (speed dominant, low revs, low track or you are on a true flood) but, I personally think if you are not that kind of player, there are better options on the market such as a Schorchin, Utimate, etc.

The mammoth is a heavy oil ball,  just like it's older brother the goliath.  IMHO the core change made the different in getting this ball down the lane.  This ball isn't specfic to one type of bowler.  Good luck with your decision.
