Goliath

Anyone still using there goliath? Reason for asking is I am looking for a ball to handle oil that is on the heavy side and don't want to spend alot on it as it will sit in my bag and only get used on the rare occasions when I see this. If you are still using it, what kind of reaction are you seeing out of it? Thanks.

The goliath will work well for heavy oil and is pretty inexpensive right now on places like ebay and such

The Goliath is not the ball for heavy oil period, check out the scorchin or even cheaper is the strike zone. But defintely, absolutely not the Goliath!

Just curious, why do you say that?

Being a true high-load particle ball, I don't believe you are going to see a lot of movement in the back part of the lane with a Goliath.  Your not going to get the recovery of the Strike Zone (solid resin) with a high-load particle because that is not what a high-load particle is meant to do.  High-load particles start to roll early (a good thing on really oily lanes) and the movement to the pocket will be very much an arc shape.
Wasn't this all explained in a post labeled "Particles 101"?
Anyway, when a high-load particle is hitting weak it is using up all it's energy before it hits the pocket.  This could be from lack of oil or trying to make the ball cover too many boards.

The people who have had the most success with it have polished it, remarking that it becomes like a urethane ball on steroids.

First thing when you look at this ball you have to understand that it is a high load particle, it will not react like a solid.  it is not meant to be swung out hoping for major backend.  there was a thread around here called particle 101 you might want to read it.  the goliath is a great heavy oil ball, if you use it properly.  I have seen this thing drilled a few different ways and the reaction doesnt change much.  it is a very early roller.
