Yes, they are phasing out.

Oh, Nick, you wound me with that statement.

We needed something fresh and wanted to continue with the throwback look. We felt the need to give a little bit more performance without going overboard.

Nick,

What is the difference in strength between SK-13 and PK-17?

SK13 is cleaner in the front with a little more response than PK17. Both are still low friction coverstocks. Strike King is about 2/1 more than a Slingshot and 4/2 less than a Ringer.

Great job to Brunswick and the direction they are headed!! I was on staff for a while and having used them them for a while and this ball looks amazing and I believe it should fit in my bag! I felt for me that the Slingshot was a great ball on lighter conditions, but needed just a pinch more punch if you had to more deeper! Now I have to decide on the black pearl or red/gold!!! Just my $.02, Bruce

Love the new look. Toss up between the black or the red/gold. Will get both just a matter of which one first. Love the up grade on cover and a little beefier core. I loved the Power Groove bevause of the much higher diff core with the PK17 cover.

New stuff looks great.

That black pearl strike king looks awesome!

Brunsnick, I've just recently purchased a Pink / Purple Karma and I also have a 5 year old MoJave (which is PK 17 with the EZ Rev core I believe).  How might this Strike King compare to these.......moreso the Karma though?

These balls look great.  Brunswick is great at appealing to ALL styles and levels of bowlers.  Shelf appeal should be awesome on these new releases.

How would this ball compare to the Misfit Pearl? I'm currently in the market for balls as weak and weaker than the Misfit Pearl. How do you think it would compare with the weaker balls that Storm has coming out (Lights Out, Freak'n Frantic, Super Natural... plus the Tropical Breeze)? I was set to order 3 of those plus Hammer's True Blood, but I could always substitute one for this. I do like my Slingshot, but it was not drilled for my two hand release. I'm looking for balls that will allow me to play straight(er), with a more controlled back-end. Misfit Pearl gives me that on fresh, but starts snapping hard when the lanes dry out. Moving deeper often results in over-under.

Alright Nick we are depending on you to post some actual pics of the new Strike King on here.

Strike Kings will be weaker than Misfit Pearl. The Differential is only .028 and the cover is milder. Compared to the competitors stuff, it would probably compare closer to the Breeze.

I'll be sure to take pics when I get my samples.

Black Pearl is probably my next ball. Either that or get the pitches fixed on my Teal Rhino Pro and use it for the same purpose.

Read the info, the Strike King is a polyester (PLASTIC) ball.  --  JohnP

John, It is early and you may need some sleep. When I went to the Brunswick page all 4 Strike Kings have SK13 Reactive listed as the cover. If you clicked on the link in the OP, that takes you to a TZone which we all know are plastic....but this thread is not on TZones, it is on the new Strike King line that will replace the Slingshots....

Dough....

Teal Rhino Pro....isn't that just the same as today's Avalanche Solid?

I think those cores are a little lower rg and a little lower diff than the strike king.  It has to be a different shaped move.   I have an Avalanche pearl, not bad...but often a little too little on most top hats, not bad later!

I don't have a solid.

Lefty,

The Teal Rhino Pro has a weaker cover than the Avalanche Solid (PK18), but you are right about the lower RG and differential.  I bet the Strike-King would give me more pop on the backend.  Polished up, the Teal is a great down-and-in ball, especially for the extreme outside shot.

Thanks for convincing me to get one!  (Like I needed any convincing lol).

Doug

You also have to keep in mind that a cover manufactured 20 yrs as opposed to today can't be compared....one they are manufacturing in a different plant and 2 the ingredients & manufacturing have improved.

You may want to look at the Ringer.  Very clean through the fronts with some pop on the backend.

The Strike King should be a step down from the Ringer with similar shape and reaction.
