Was looking at the balls on the pba and seen a new release from brunswick called the c-(system) 2.5 and was wondering if any of you brunswick people know anything bout this ball. Says it's a new cover and weight block friend of mine throws only brunswick and is looking for a new long and strong ball and thats what it says this ball is.
-
It is a ball that Carmen Salvino is designing. Not much else than that.

Wasn't Carmen Salvino involved in the ball (EPX T-1) that was pretty much the last nail in the coffin for Columbia?
-
are there any pics of it? kinda interested to see
-
I do not believe he had anything to do with the debacle that was the Epoxy ball. His last was CSI and about 10 years ago or so. I believe Storm made those.

here's what I've found. . .
Brunswick is pleased to introduce their newest bowling ball called the C•(System) 2.5.
The C•(System) 2.5 was developed in close collaboration with Hall of Fame bowler Carmen Salvino. The new line of performance bowling balls features Chemical Friction Technology (CFT).
Coverstock: CFT 2.5â„¢ The chemistry was uniquely designed to have shaped molecular structures that produce a high coefficient of friction. Because of the shape of the molecule, when the ball goes into rolling friction, which occurs at the back part of the lane, slippage is eliminated and the ball will give you maximum entry and carry.
Core: The new I-Block core was engineered specifically for the CFT 2.5 coverstock to create maximum forgiveness, strong entry angles along with versatile drilling layouts.
Reaction Characteristics:
Ball Motion: With its 4000-grit micro pad finish, the C•(System) 25 will provide good length with a strong, continuous backend reaction that matches up on medium to oily lane conditions for a wide range of bowling styles.
Reaction Setup: The C•(System) 2.5 can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for asymmetric bowling balls. Please visit www.brunswickbowling.com/balls to view the drilling instructions for specific reaction characteristics and layout details.
The specifications for the C•(System) 2.5 are: Core: I-Block: Coverstock: CFT 2.5: Color: Red Pearl/Blue Pearl: Hardness: 75-76: RG: Rating 2520: (differential): 0.050: Asymmetry: 0.017: Weights: 12-16: Hook Potential: 155: Length: 105: Breakpoint Shape: 90

On Xtra Frames 39X60 Sean Rash mentions he was using it some during qualifying on the Chameleon. I did not see it during match play yesterday, but he may not need it with all the friction there is in the Arena Bay.

Watched the ball tonight. It's ridiculous. Great new ball by Brunswick. Very versatile and gives the bowler a ton of room. Release should be in about 6 weeks I'm told.

I had the opportunity to use this ball as a test ball and then to drill up the production ball for league Friday night.
This is a great ball, with a very unique reaction on the lane and through the pin deck!
The new core and coverstock technology provide maximum forgiveness and superior pin carry compared to anything else I've seen or used on the market.
I'll provide a full review once we get closer to the release date and I have an opportunity to use the ball more.

ok heres a thought... why release the siege? this new ball is for heavy oil according to bowlingball.com? if it is a heavy oil ball wont it take away from the siege sales. which is a heavy oil piece and poplar piece among bowlers? needs some clarification on this. since i am deciding between this and jigsaw and the siege. so what ball would be the one to have the siege or c-system?

The Seige is still going to be more overall hook than the CS 2.5.
-
Oh baby, I can't wait to be able to bowl again! I'm missing out on everything! I still have my Siege to drill, Rattler, I want a Wild Thing, and now this C-System sounds very interesting. J-Morris, i'll be waiting for further review. It certainly looks good.

Had an opportunity to watch Petraglia using this ball after match play finished tonight.
A few of the other guys on the senior tour commented that it gave him a look on the lanes that he has needed. Long and strong is a good description and I'm not sure how serious Mark Williams was, but he said he wanted a case of them.
He had 2 that he picked up from Muskegon earlier in the day and they were basically ignoring the OB on the #4 senior pattern. I will add that the lanes had been oiled in the morning and had sat all day by the point he bowled on them, but there were only 3 lefties left in match play today.
The only ball he had brought in to compared against was a Rattler, and it wasn't recovering like the C-(S) 2.5 was. Petraglia was also commenting about needing to tweak the "tame" one to get a bigger difference in reaction from the other he had. Both balls were still OOB in regards to surface.
Hopefully with these in his bag he'll have a better look in Detroit next week and can make it to match play.

The release date is 9/28/88 and it is currently available for preorder on http://www.bowlingball.com for $144.99. They have a pic of the ball and the core with a nice description. I have heard rave reviews as far as a pro out of Indiana saying it was the best Brunswick ball since the Original Danger Zone. Thats all I know for now. Hope to see it this weekend

Well, it is a good looking ball.
I'm guessing this was a joke..
I drilled one up yesterday for one our Brunswick-distributor reps..
IMO not the prettiest ball from Brunswick.. Looks like a dull Blue/Red Power Groove..
I could see a lot more shelf appeal if they tried something else than blue..
Have not had the chance to get a review from the rep.. But from what i've heard elsewhere it sounds very interesting..
Not too impressed with the drillsheet though.. I like the fact that they use the Dual Angle Technique.. Not so excited about the X-hole recommendation..

Are you kidding me, what a joke. Brunswick is reeling. The Seige was a huge flop, one of the worst rolling balls i have ever seen and had a ton of hype/marketing to make it almost an epic fail( EPX T1 type failure no but still bad) They are of course going to say its the best ball since whatever ball they had sold a ton. They are just pumping out balls hoping to hit a winner and in reality they are just sinking their ship even further. I wouldnt throw a Bwick ball if it was the last ball produced, i would quit bowling before I threw one.
Look at all of their last High performance releases, all flops and all could be found for dirt cheap 6 months after released. Do not see why this one will be any different. Someone tell me why i am wrong
You're wrong because you're angry.
-
quote:
Someone tell me why i am wrong
Will do.
If you have thrown the Smash Zone, Wild Ride, etc. etc. (I have yet to throw anything after the Ride since i'm out on injury), you would see Brunswick is making great pieces. Before I was injured, my Wild Ride/Smash Zone combo would be all I needed on a typical house pattern. The Wild Ride for playing a bit deeper, and the Smash Zone for kicking the ten when the Ride wouldn't. I still have an undrilled Siege/Rattler so I can't give an honest assessment on them, but I know they're going to be great.

There's no doubt the Cell's, Widow's and Gravity series aren't selling lights out. I cannot and will not argue that fact. The Smash Zone was only dumped because the color was only "black pearl". People these days want a ball the color of the rainbow and manufacturers know that's how to sell balls. Anyone who's thrown a Smash Zone should know, it's just as good, if not better than Hammer's Psycho. I compared it head to head and my Smash hit harder and drove harder, while being just slightly longer and more angular.
Anyways, that's not the point. Brunswick makes just as good of stuff as other companies and there's no need to argue about anything.
I just cannot wait for this C System! Well, I need to be able to bowl again first but I still can't wait!

price doesn't reflect quality. Supply and demand do, along with distribution.
Bowlingball.com has a lot of bowlingballs for sale cheap by a lot of companies at some point or another. Including roto grip and storm. When Brunswick discontinues a ball they clear them out cheap. They go through a lot of different lines quickly. From what I've noticed if it isn't just selling unbelievable numbers they have a replacement on the way and discontinue the other.
I've bought a lot of their equipment cheap and have great results with it. Including infernos and zones. Considering I've drilled a lot of their equipment I can say very safely its a great product. When I can get a great deal on a ball from any company I check the reviews online and then make my decision.

typical sales here. you either have a great product and sell for a good price or you have a poor product and sell it for whatever you can get, how can you argue this!!!
The term "Good" is relative to the person rolling the ball.

The Siege "a huge flop"? Where do you get your facts? We are getting great reports from all over about how useful this ball is. Only reason it doesn't get much play on Tour is because the lower volumns of oil being used. This is where having the C-Sytem ball comes into play. A little cleaner in the front but handles downlane oil a little better since it has a little more energy left and the cover sticks to the lane a little better.
Used my new C-System ball today at the World Championships once the Siege became too much ball. Siege looked pretty good but the C-System gave me more hold since the lanes were burning up fairly quick. Seeing a lot of them in other guys hands too.
Lots of comments on how good it rolls and how good it looks cosmetically.

I've seen the Siege used by several bowlers in some SASBA tournament and the ball looks very impressive! I work in the bowling industry and I'm on Roto Grips staff, but I'm always looking at other line of bowling equipment for my info and knowledge. I don't listen to what others say about a ball, I look at layouts and see the reaction for myself before coming to any conclusions! My favorite ball of late is the Rogue Cell drill pin below ring and mb just right of thumb. Siege looked to get thru the heads fairly clean and still maintained a really strong break point. Appeared to be very heavy rolling and continuous thru the pins! Just my opinion! Bruce
