Title: Carry problems with Power Groove Dry/R
Post by: PowrKoil17 on October 24, 2012, 10:05:33 PM
I use the Dry/R when my Ogre SS starts flipping to early for me. It is clean through the fronts and smoother on the backend. The cover is at 3000 abralon, the ball gets down the lane well and turns the corner well and seems to really slam the pocket, but there seems to always be a 4, 7, or 10 pin left standing. Anyone got any ideas?

Adjust to the pin that you are leaving.  10s, need to move a board to the right, 4s need to move left a board.  7s is too much angle, take some out of it.

Also, even at 3000 grit, the Dry/R coverstock is almost a pearl urethane in how mild it is and how much oil it can handle. All those single pins leaves usually say it's either not the right ball for the condition or you're playing the wrong line. I'd suspect you need another ball between the Ogre SS and the Dry/R.

I considered the wrong line idea and thought about adding a little polish to surface and playing little straighter line, but I wasn't sure if that would fix my carry problem on the corners. Could you give me an example of what might be a ball that would fit between the SS and Dry/R?

In my opinion, some balls that could fit, depending on drilling:
Track 300A (drilled weak, like pin-PAP around 5")
Roto-Grip Scream
Storm Tropical Breeze (drilled on the stronger side, like pin 4" to PAP)
Motiv Silver Recon RX-1 pearl or Orange Recon RX-1 solid
(I think the new Motiv Ascent pearl might be too strong.)

I think the roto grip scream would be a good ball to fit your whole. Or maybe even the slingshot. Since it replace the power groove and you have the dry r, thppat is probably your besical  bet. The tropical breeze is a bit too weak and may actually do the same thing as your dry r.

Does this apply for bowlers with low revs that play up the 10 board?.....I hardly ever leave 7's....I leave mostly 9's and 10's...please advise.
