Brunswick Rhino - First 12 Shots
« on: April 08, 2016, 05:45:33 PM »

I kept it shiny out of the box for the video, but when I add this ball to the bag, it will have the surface knocked down. Ball was thrown on a THS, goes pretty straight if I got it in the oil, and didn't go sideways when I fed it to the friction.

Going to be a versatile ball that should do well with multiple layouts and surfaces.

Sooooooo guess there will be more post about the diff being higher then the Strike King or Slingshot? This ball hooking too much for an entry level ball and need something below it???

Seems to be the right amount of hook for an entry level or dry lane ball to me.

Looks right to me also.  Smooth and controllable but still has enough in back.

Seems to me that it depends on your rev rate, your ball speed and exactly how much dry you face, doesn't it?

Logo reminds me of Las Vegas' own,

With that said, I'm ordering a pair to put on my rack, in case I have to hit it off the friction when it's too wet in the middle.

.....see what I did there

Looks like everything else does on a houseshot to me.Down here in the south its all you need is low end stuff.Unless your hands sowed on backwards or your 20 years old and throw it like a missile .Don't take me wrong Nick .Looks great and I am sure I will own one. With summer coming my pin up and pin down Strike Kings is all I need.I am sure those are going to be great sellers.Hard to beat at that price point. So for anyone struggling on dryer houseshots this is the ticket.

Everyone already agreed the new ball hooks too much without ever seeing it thrown but strictly off the core numbers with the diff that was increased so little.

No doubt nothing else matters but the diff going from 0.028 to 0.030. Is waaaaay too much right?

You should learn to read and not put words into people's mouths that they never said. Don't put your own prejudices into the criticism that you want to lay on other people, just because you don't agree with them.

You want to criticize me, fine. Just do it for what I said, not what you want people to think that I said.

That said, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you. My point of view stands. It is my opinion; it's not right or wrong; it's an opinion. And nothing you will say will convince me otherwise.

I think it's a step, backwards towards Ebonite and the Cyclone. It's still stronger yet, The Strike King was stronger than the Slingshot; now the Rhino is stronger than the Strike King. Brunswick is removing itself from one of its previous strengths: light oil balls.
Ebonite has had no true light oil balls since the Cyclone came out. Now, Brunswick joins them.

Heck, now there's room again for the Slingshot below the Rhino.

I didn't meant the same ball; I mean the same type of ball. And that Brunswick SEEMS to be following the same general path, using stronger and stronger balls as their weakest. They're not the same large step, when it went to the Cyclone, that Ebonite took, but, as I said, the Strike King was stronger than the Slingshot. I have no doubt that with  little lower RG and little higher differential, that the Rhino, as good as they look, will be a little stronger overall than the Strike King.

I honestly think there's ow room to put the Slingshot below the Rhino and have a more properly filled arsenal. Yes, I know people with high ball speeds don't need it, but many of us still do.
PLUS
with Bowlmor taking over both AMF and Brunswick bowling centers, we need more light balls than ever before. Bowlmor uses the cheapest, crappiest oils than can find and puts down far, far less oil than AMF or Brunswick did 20 years ago.

My comments are based off of the original thread about people posting how this ball is too strong and the way it is going of making stronger and stronger entry level balls based off of nothing more then what they think they know on core numbers and some coverstock no one has ever heard of........If you didn't say these quotes along with others in the previous thread then anything on this page you reply to doesn't apply to you anyways..

I've throw the slingshot and the Strike King on almost identical layouts and the results were minimal for the difference the diffs are listed as....

Whew posting on ball reviews is so touchy anymore.Lighten up guys. Remember the USBC has made this a recreation sport(Dam Them)!!!! its supposed to be so much funner.
The diff is fine.Hopefully the USBC dont check them. Jking don't shoot me guys! Should not be much different at all.If the new coverstock R-16 is close to SK13.Which I am sure it probably is. Nick can clue us in.
Also another good video Nick.I like how it shows when it hits the oil line.Gives a really good idea what it does when it see's oil.I like that color too looks like a scholar with no gold.

I hate to get in the middle of a heated debate but I do understand Charlest's frustration.  As an older guy with more hand than ball speed, every time a "low end" release comes out I cross my fingers and hope that this ball is the one.  The one that allows me to compete with the knuckle ballers and frisbee releases that allow so many folks to score with high end equipment and no hand.

I will say, I see a difference between Slingshot and Strike King.   But that's me.

I personally would like to see more light load and medium load particle balls as I always felt those covers gave me urethane control with reactive hit.

I will also say that since the LT48, I don't worry so much about the latest and greatest in low end releases.  I just ordered my second and will probably put 1 or 2 more aside for future use.

I agree on low-end, particle, and the LT-48!
