Fury Pearl or Fury Pearl Tour Edition
« on: December 18, 2008, 05:37:00 AM »
Just curious, how can you tell the difference between the regular Pearl and the T.E.?  Does it say Tour Edition on the ball?

Thanks in advance!

Well...I'm not sure I'd go by the label or pin color alone.  I've seen balls marked as TE's that hook as much as the regular ones do.  I've also seen balls that *aren't* marked as TE's that don't hook at all.

IME the only way to tell the difference is by using a Durometer.  The TE's will punch three to five points higher than the regular Fury Pearls.

I was told "Pro" models and "Pro Pins" by Storms are all defects with wrong coverstocks or long pins they don't want to sell as XOUT balls.  So they claim it to be Pro models so they can sell them for higher prices.
Back in the days Big B had different color pins and core/coverstock combination to promote the balls by having the pros use them on TV.  Pros needed weaker core/coverstock combination then most of us so they had special balls made so they look like the same balls on the pro shop shelves.

I've heard bowlers have liked both versions, of this well received ball.

Harder and softer Fury pearls!
