I am just wondering how strong the diamondback is in comparison to the ultimate inferno?  Would having the same layout on both balls result in complimentary reaction or overlap?

I personally think the Diamondback clears the front more and may even have a little bit more off the back so it'd be a great choice to switch to after the Ultimate.

IME the Diamondback is cleaner and sharper than the original pour of the Ultimate, but a bit earlier than the remake with about the same strength at the break.

Secand that. The core is less revvy than the low RG Inferno core, and OOB the DB has less surface. It should, with same setup, go a little longer than an UI and be a tad sharper (if you can call it that way) at the breakpoint, pushing easier down the lane. IMHO, it would fit condition-wise one step under an UI, but not much. To differentiate them at OOB, I''d set them up with different drillings, e .g. the UI with rolly pin-under-fingers setup (for long/heavy oil)and the DB with the pin above the fingers, to add some length and pop and exploit the ball''s core characteristics (relativley to the UI).

You might set them apart even more with a finer surface or even just a coat of polish on the DB.

Should be a good combo for mediums/THS and up,

Thanks guys, I think going pin above the bridge w/ a little polish should make the 2 balls different enough

First throw OOB and if you think it needs a different reaction, take the surface up with sia air, like 2000, then throw it. I have been getting more consistent reactions without polish, and if I do use polish, the grit underneath is 500 or 1000.

The DB seems to shine up quickly, too. I suppose that with some use, the surface tracks out quite easily and traction tames down a bit. Polish would make sense, though, if you wnat to set the ball apart for mediums right from the start.
