Scorchin---> Radical? ----> Vapor Zone
« on: August 09, 2006, 08:43:13 AM »
Would a Radical Inferno fit inbetween my vapor zone and my scorchin?

Does the Radical Handle oil better than my vapor zone?

And im a 2 finger high rev and high speed bowler that averages around a 185. My scorchin is drilled with the pin under my ring finger and my vapor is drilled to go long. Any suggestions on pin placement for my Radical?

From what I've seen so far, no.  The Radical is longer with a sharper breakpoint than the vapor, and as far as overall hook, the Radical is less.  To tell the truth, I'm still searching for the proper surface for my Radical.  I'll try a couple more and then post at least a query as to why it worked so poorly at some surface grits and why (hopefully) it finally works at a certain grit.

Nope, wouldn't have a chance.  Vapor Zone will be a lot stronger.

The Radical is stronger than the Vapor but the Vapor is earlier, smoother and reads the transition better on the fresh. Once the Vapor starts checking up early go to the Radical and move a little left and then the Radical should read the midlane correctly. If you start out with the Radical too early it isn't going to want to read the last couple feet of the midlane correctly, then it's going to be too squirly down lane.

From what I have tried Ruff Buff seems to be the best finish, unless your are looking for a ball that can open up the lanes once you have some lane play a couple boards right of you (or left for lefties). But I would recomend hugging the transition and getting your speed up, sothat if you leak it right it will hit the dry spot caused by the play just right of you and get back and if you miss left it will hold.

So it would actually fit after my vapor zone. So any suggestions on a ball or two that will fit between my Scorchin and my Vapor Zone. For times when there a bit too much oil for my Vapor Zone but not enought for the Scorchin?

I can confirm this observation from Brunswick staffers' experience with the RadI here in Germany and their first test balls: Nice ball, very sharp breakpoint (as advertised), but quite condition specific. The surface is easily adjusted, still it seems to be a bit touchy about lane conditions and changes?

Strike zone 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 from axis and the MB at 60 degrees. Just change the surface after that if you need to.

I've lately been trying 4000 grit and that seems to have worked better than either oob or 1000 for me.  I'm gonna put a few more games on the Radical before I try another surface, but I'm still not entirely pleased.  To get good results so far I have had to really stay in the oil and play fairly direct.  The ball so far has been giving me an agressive move off the dry, but shortly after this move the ball flattens out.

The ball is drilled with a 4 1/2" pin to pap 2 1/4" above mid, with the cg swung way out and a crater hole on my pap.  This is the same drill as my scorchin', which has a ton of midlane and good continuation through the pocket.  So far it appears as though the cover of the Radical is extremely sensitive to the dry and allergic to oil.  It is a very skid snappy piece which is a reaction I needed, but the lack of continuation is a large problem.  I'm thinking about 500 + rough buff to perhaps enhance midlane a bit and hopefully give it a more predictable read and better continuation, but if I can find a good condition for the ball at 4000 I'll stick with that.
