Which Big "B" is closest to Ebonite The One?
« on: September 04, 2006, 02:36:23 PM »
OK so, I feel compelled to ask this question. I'm probably not the first to contemplate this...here goes. I've thrown a lot of Brunswick stuff and over the past year have been throwing "The One" as well. I have to say I really love the way this ball rolls. So, I was wondering what Brunswick piece do folks think is closest to "The One" and "The Big One"? I can't really think of something in the Brunswick line that has a comparable roll.

It's hard to say, since The One comes at such a high surface out of the box (4000 + polish).  You'd have to ask someone on here to emulate that finish on something they have, otherwise I'm not sure you'd get the same look from anything.

Hmm..interesting perspective. Regarding the Red Zone, it seems to me that it really is just a polished version of the Strike Zone...at least that is my take. For some time now the Activator family of coverstocks has been making its way to the Asymetrical line. i.e. Strike Zone = UI. It seems to me that The One is much more angular than any of the Brunswick stuff. That said, it seems the Brunswick stuff reads the midlane better than any ball I've ever thrown.

All that said, I should have mentioned that my "One" has been taken down to 1000 abralon with no polish. It can get a bit jumpy when the conditions get a bit choppy. In that case I usually go to my Vapor Zone or AI. The mid lane read on both of these smoothes out the backend quite a bit.

What is there about the "Big One" that you do not like? I've heard nothing but rave reviews on the ball from those I know that use it.

It's closest to a Red Zone reaction-wise.  May not be dead on as far as the numbers go, but it reminds me of the Red Zone the most.
