Title: Eliminator vs. Inferno
Post by: DavidAlden on April 01, 2004, 01:21:39 AM
In your oppinion what ball would be a better ball to use on medium oil house shot.  I bought a inferno but instead i got a eliminator and im wondering if i should just keep the eliminator.

With a name like Drrev I can believe that you would see the Inferno & Eliminator as heavy oil balls. But for someone with a medium amount of hand, these are just about as middle of the road as they come.

David, without you having entered a profile it will be tough to give an accurate suggestion. As you can see above, one mans hook monster is another mans spare ball.

Some generalities, The eliminator is a light load particle & might do a little better with carrydown or spotty patterns. The inferno, although it's a pearl, is certainly the most even reacting pearl I've thrown. That said, it's still a pearl & can get jumpy on uneven pattern.

Really without more info on your style, there's no way to give an accurate suggestion.

My house shot is usually a medium oil shot, on 3 year old DBA synthetic lanes. It varies from week to week, but rarely heavier, and sometimes medium-light. It needs to be on the medium to medium heavy before the Inferno comes out of the bag. It is a very low RG ball, and even though it's a "pearl", it is Activator, and that is a strong cover. A very even rolling ball, but susceptible to losing energy early due to the above factors. The Eliminator, even though a particle ball, is a light-load particle. Mine is polished, and drilled tame, and it will stay in play longer than the Inferno. I am an average speed, average rev player. I like both balls, and would have a tough time choosing one over the other - I like both.

Agreed.  I use mine on light-mediums; nothing heavier unless there are crispy backends.
