Ideas about the Ultra
« on: February 19, 2008, 12:51:34 AM »
I ordered an Ultra...don't know when i'll receive it, because I get a discount for collegiate bowling.

I'm looking at layouts. I want it to max out the back. Any suggestions?

On this ball 4 pin to pap and 4 1/2 mb to pap is great, shot well with it again last night when nobody else had a shot but me. Beat my 234 average bowler by 30 pins, he was up the creek with over reaction where this ball just never over reads and then arcs nice to the pocket.

He even had over reaction with a Toxic which is usually a control ball for him, nope the Ultra Zone worked wonders handles carrydown like it does not exist. How do i know the carrydown was huge?? well they put out a 20 foot head run on top of all day plastic ball play at the strike zone where every lane was taken when i got there and watched the 20 foot head run.

A guy that shot 826 from the week before shot shot 570 something, i was as proud as a peacock that i was high in the league last night. Nobody else had the right ball with them IMO but me, this ball is about control not hook so dont worry about max hook or sell it to someone else.

Ok, mrbowlingnut, that works for you.

Mr. Redbird (how's the BBC these days?), for the Ultra, if you're looking for the maximum backend reaction you can get out of this ball, without knowing your PAP measurements, the simplest thing to do is put the pin above your bridge, swing the MB right of your centerline about 1 1/2-2", put a weight hole about 4-5" from your pin close to your midline, and this should give you the most backend out of this ball.

Are you guys going to make sectionals this year?  I've completely lost touch with ISU collegiate bowling.

Loose is correct on what he states, i am only stating my opinion it is a waste of what this ball is meant to do if you want more backend go with something else. You are going to take a somewhat smooth ball and try to get backend out of it??? It is your money do whatever you want too but dont say i did not try to help you out.

This ball is closer to a tsumani from lane1 than it is too skid snappy.

Loose, the BBC is good.Everything is being renovated within the next couple of weeks, so if you stop by sometime, you'll see a huge difference. I'm gonna ask Kim and Joop to stop down also.  Pat is gone over to the Bone so we have a new coach. We made it last yr and it looks like we're going again this yr to sectionals. No one has shot 300 yet.lol

mrbowlingnut, thanks for the advice. nothing set in stone yet. It was just an idea. I saw the vid on Brunswick.com and was floored with the smoothness of the ball. That's why i was looking for additional drilling ideas/layouts.
