Buying a ball
« on: January 01, 2008, 03:13:07 PM »
Do you think it is wise to buy a ball online or from a pro shop? Balls online are so much cheaper than all the pro shops in my area, drilling is even cheaper and i know my drilling specs. thanks for your inputs!

Your decision. Personally, I'd have my ball drilled at the pro shop of my trust and who normally drills all my equipment. Even though you have your grip specs, having a ball drilled without being around for tests, discussions and adjustments is IMHO a risky thing that is not worth the few saved bucks. XCan work, can not, and I heard of a few players who had different feelings in different balls that were drilled by various shops, despite the same grip specs as a base.

Additionally, I'd rather support the local pro shop (since I get very good service there that is worth the money and beyond), and if I order balls I get also very good prices for the complete setup package (but that's due to a different market situation here in Germany). But I also had the case that I ordered balls through an online shop or ebay and had them drilled up (at slightly higher charges) at "my" pro shop, without problems or complaints.

if you want to save money, buy online.  if you dont care for saving money than go to the shop.  either way the pro shop will drill the ball for you.
