Wild Thing or Rattler
« on: June 18, 2009, 06:34:08 AM »
Wondering which of these would have the more angular backend, and how they compare to each other, especially on synthetic lanes.  Which would be better at handling some carrydown?  I'm really impressed by the Brunswick video of the Wild Thing.  That ball just seems to left turn and really rocks the pins.  The Rattler vids I've seen make that ball look really good also.

I'm down to deciding between these two Brunswick balls and possibly the new Rotogrip Nomad & Nomad Pearl, depending on how reports are on them when they come out.

The Wild Thing is the ball that you want.  The rattler is my favorite ball however the Wild Thing offers more hook, more angularity, and more help in the carrydown.    With a little bit of surface help I have never thrown a ball more angular and predictable than the Wild Thing.

IME the Wild Thing is *much* stronger than the Rattler, say five-and-three stronger with both balls in box finish.  The Wild Thing revs up very quickly, while the Rattler is cleaner through the front and early midlane.  I can use my Wild Thing when the condition is tighter, but I really can't pull the Rattler out of the bag until there is a defined area of friction.

You want backend, go for the Wild Thing.

I vowed not even looked at Brunswick after the wild ride, but I must admit the wild thing looks good. I would like to see someone else throw it besides the brunswick staffer though. Looks darn good!

Wild Thing this ball is a beast and very tweakable. It will handle more oil than rattler and be stronger off the spot.

Thanks for the replies.  For those of you that have thrown the Wild Thing, are you leaving it at OOB, or have you had to change the surface, and if so, what did you change it to, and why?

I left mine in box.  I probably won't consider changing the surface until I've gotten the chance to throw it at a few more centers.

Ray, get that new ball out of the box and drill it.  How can you tell if you like it if you still have it in the box and undrilled.  Just kidding.  I have yet to get one of the newer balls, but they look really good.  I am a long time brunswick user of bowling balls.  Keep up making those good bowling balls BIG B!
