Hey, BRUNSWICK stole my idea!!!
« on: July 07, 2004, 02:41:30 PM »
Whoa, easy there... caml down... I'm just kidding... geez.

Their new Heavy Oil ball, the Galiath... is simlar to what I've been talkng about on here for a while now... but hardly anybody would agree... some did, and some didn't.

For a while now, I've been talking about how HIGH RG particle balls have more backend and create more area than LOW RG balls... and now Brunswick's NEW Heavy Oil, THE GALIATH has a MED/HIGH RG core... and early reports say that this ball is their biggest hooker yet!!!

So it seems they are following my lead... I thought me and my friend were on to something when we discovered that a Track SPELL (High RG) had more recovery on Heavy Oil than just about all other Low RG Particle balls out there!

Read the below post from a while back to see what I'm talking about:

Thanks!

Brunswick says that the RG design is a perfect match to the Goliath high load particle traction coverstock. And they say that high load Particle traction coverstocks can roll "too" early when combined with lower RG cores. The Goliath core helps create mid-lane recovery and a strong arcing backend reaction. Compared to Brunswick's previous mid-pirce particle offerings the Goliath has both a higher hook potential and a more skid/snap arc. Bowlers will find that these performance enhancements result in a particle ball with greater room for error.

This is EXACTLY what I've been saying for so long now!!! Finally somebody has made a Heavy Oil ball that may actually have some backend recovery instead of all these LOW RG bals that roll so early that they have no backend!

RIC .. looks like you were way ahead of the manufacturers. I wonder if your posting DID trigger a look into your theory? At any rate congratulations!

Ric it seems that maybe you should team up with Mo! Of course I am not the biggest fan of Particles, (or older Big B stuff), but maybe this would be my answer to a tournament (early block) ball.

I don't think this is a new idea for Brunswick.  The Monster Purple and Brimstone had pretty high RGs.  The Brimstone also lowered the diff to get more length and more backend out of it.  Also off the top of my head the ShockZone had a very high RG.  It's common to raise the RG when you increase the particle load to prevent early burn.  Ebonite did it with the V2 Strong vs original V2.  Like you noticed with the Spell, high RG particle works well because you still get recovery down the lane.

P.S.
Here's the flyer for the ShockZone:

If we're talking high-RG particle balls here, what about the Black Sparkle Power Groove?  Or the Plum, for that matter.

I agree about some of the Heavy Oil balls have a little higher RG than others... say in the 2.55 or 2.56 range... but when you go up a little higher to like 2.59 or 2.61 then that is really getting high in my book.

I just haven't seen a Particle which was designed directly for Heavy Oil with this high of an RG in a while.

And with my lower speed and lower revs, I love the High RG balls that's out there... I've got several in my arsenal. And have shot just about every one of my honor scores with High Rg balls except maybe 1-2.
