How do i clean off belt marks?
« on: March 10, 2005, 11:14:34 PM »
Hi all, please suggest some ideas how to clean the beltmarks off my ball. I have already tried cleaners like STORM Reacta Clean on my Absolute Inferno. Thanks

Haha...ever hear of the reformulated gasoline or gasahol?  It is gasoline with ethanol added to it (try to extend the oil supply and keep the farmers happy).  Anyway, if concentrations of ethanol in the gasoline get too high, it will attack the rubber seals, rings, gaskets, etc. in the engine, albeit a rather slow process...

Acetone does dissolve belt marks, and it is illegal. There are two or three ball cleaners that do it also which are also illegal because they contain acetone. The belt marks are not really rubber but urethane.

Clean and Dull takes off belt marks and grime more quickly and with less effort than anything that I've ever tried. It is even easier with a spinner, but you can do it by hand and get great results as well. That's what I'd recommend.

what grit does clean and dull sand to?

Clean and Dull doesn't have any grit.  It is call Clean and Dull because unlike some cleaners out there it doesn't polish the ball as it cleans it.

But it doesn't dull balls either. It's JUST a name.

To clear this one out for you, Clean & Dull is just the name of the cleaner. It doesn't have any abrasives on it that will change the cover surface, so If you use it on a dull ball, it will stay dull & if you use it on polish balls it will stay polish.

The best part about it is you only need this one cleaner for all types of coverstock.(plastic, reactive or particle, etc.) Unlike storm cleaners like reacta & mega bite, one for reactive & one for particle. Not cost effective on my book.

I use Simple Green and water mixture for the left on oil
and then just rubbing alchohol on the belt marks. Just
takes a little effort and they all come off. I do use the
SP/W and rubbing alchohol separate from each other. It's
more effective.

Like I originally said, the best cleaner for bowling balls is
