That says nothing about a hybrid coverstock...

It is mixed solid black and pearl silver. Wondered when I saw the coverstock in real (a friend has one) why the black had such a deep/pure color - this is the answer.

JeffRevs:
You are right, the SmashR is blue/silver PK 18. But the silver looked to me rather metallic grey, not a real pearl?

B Lefty:
If the Red Alert 300 is not a coverstock mix ball, what is it then? If you have one in front of you (I have seen 3, all very different looking patterns) it really looks like a black solid silver pearl ball. More than the SmashR did/does.

You'd think if it was a hybrid coverstock they'd have emphasized that, everyone else that's done it has really made sure people know it's in fact a HYBRID coverstock.  Black solid/silver pearl could just be the names of the colors.

Okay... I'm sorta confused here... I've got one of these babies waiting to be drilled at my shop.. Only reason i ordered one was because I thought this ball was a Zone Classic in disguise.. I love my "original" Zone Classic.. Therefore i thought it'd be Kool to get a ball no one else had.. But now it's on their website.. And checking the numbers.. It's still a Zone Classic to me..

Am i wrong or what???
Why would Brunswick market 2 identical balls at the same time?

I've heard that colours change reactions.. But come on.. If the ball sucks(which i doubt, it's Crown B people!!!), i guess i'll just have to punch up another Classic..

On edit: I actually thought it had more black in it from a pic i'd seen earlier..
http://123bowl.com/ball.asp?ballid=2588
But the pic on the site is what mine looks like.. Almost completely grey.. Still Kool tho..

It's specs mirror that of the first Zone Classic.

The only difference, that I can notice, is color.

Hmmm, but after all - does the Red Alert 300's reaction differ from the ZC in any way? Well, after all you get an exotic, good ball.

SKC: The color patterns on the balls I have seen differ wildly. The first I saw had very big, clearly separated patches of black and silver which make th ball look really cool. On another occasion I saw one ball with an almost marble-like finish, a wild and fragmented pattern. Looked like a completely different ball! It almost looked like the one on the Brusnwick website, which appears rather mottled grey. The actual ball looks much nicer.
Guess it is much like the OI - no ball looks the same.

Thanks RicH... About the 2 similar ball-thing.. It's all good.. I'd like to see the Classic come out in a variety of colours.. Just to check if there'd be any significant changes in reaction.. No mixed colours.. Just singles.. Hell i'd get all of em, JUST BECAUSE THE CLASSIC IS THAT D@NG GOOD A BALL..
I'm not really convinced by the hybrid-mania.. If people want a true mix in covers.. Try a Helix! You guys should try that again with the new coverstocks of Brunswick.. Maybe with the cover of the Punisher with a stripe of Activator or A+(?)(?)(?)
