I am hoping this is weaker than my PG.  I should have it ready to drill next week.

I am still looking for the holy grail of dry lane balls..

Imho.. it's not really a DRY lane ball. It's great for short to medium flat patterns. Able to play a really nice outside line with it & it's pretty smooth on the back end. On a walled up shot it gets a little over/under for me on the back end. And if I try to play an outside shot, it tends to move too early.

I've got a 5 X 4 drilling on mine with no Xhole.

I was hoping for a more consistant reaction from it, something not so oil sensitive, but that's just me. Pearl balls of any kind tend not to match up to my game well.

Mine's pin over bridge, cg kicked out a tad. Ball gets incredible length, it just needs dry backends so that it can finish and carry appropriately. Here's a crap quality vid of my slay/r on a fresh Xmas tree pattern. I've never had a ball that I can go up the boards with, I usually have to swing the heck out of everything.

That's up the boards? Okayyyyy.

Mine is drilled a tiny bit earlier, but no CG kick out: pin below center of bridge and CG directly below it. It arcs just like Leftside's and I can play anywhere from "really" down the boards, WHEN there's medium+ oil to a swing shot like his when there's less oil, all the way down to light oil. I changed the surface from the stock 400 grit + polish to 800 grit + polish. It handles less oil now.

When you are used to doing what I've had to do in that house with stronger equipment that is pretty damn close to up the boards b/c the swing is VERY SMALL. What's up with the dickish comment?

You get some leverage at the line.  I wish my knee could still handle that.

There I go taking stuff too serious. Sorry dude. I'm lacking confidence right now b/c after my long break, my game is horrid. But I guess that can be expected .

I do love that Slay/R though but you need good backends without a doubt.

I thought it might be something like that. I was tempted to add a few unkind words but guessed some thing was wrong. That wasn't like you.

Might I ask -
Bones told us you spent a year using plastic only. I wonder if that might have harmed your game a bit; in what fashion I don't know. The past two summers I spent one, on a sport shot pattern and one on a set of PBA patterns. Both were very light oils, the sport shot were all reverse blocks. My past 2 years in winter leagues have never been so "bollixed" up, IN MY WHOLE LIFE; I believe it was a result of not throwing the ball as I naturally do or even my "B" or "C" games. I badly needed to recuperate and am just barely beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, now. Talk about loss of confidence!

Can something similar have happened to you?

Dedication to one aspect or another is good for a while, but I've found, on the whole, that balance, from several points of view, can get you "a little further down the road". Sacrifice some breadth for depth of interest, once in a while.

Unfortunately, many of us find we get too much enjoyment from not just doing well, but from doing better than others. Sometimes, as you seem to have found, we must get enjoyment solely from the sake of just doing.
