I would advise against a flare reducing hole. As this type of extra hole does reduce flare, but also brings the bowtie down a bit.
If you are using grips, and have tracked close to the finger holes before, I would make sure that you aren't clipping a raised grip.
If this isn't the case, I would add a a small weight hole either in the p3 or p4 position along the gradiant line, in accordance with Mo Pinel's directions on placement of weight holes. Or down your VAL 2.5"-3.5". Any one of these positions will raise the bowtie and, hopefully, get it to stop flaring on the finger hole.
I would start with a 3/4" hole 2.5"-3" deep. Use as small a hole as possible so as not to change reaction drastically. If the 3/4" hole doesn't do the trick, go up to a 7/8". Keep enlarging the hole slightly until it stops flaring over your finger hole. All the while making sure to keep the ball statically legal.
