Ambush Drilling
« on: July 30, 2006, 12:27:44 AM »
Prior to the start of new season I am purchasing a 12lb Ambush. I went to the Kegel Training Center earlier this simmer to update my skills and get a closer evaluation of my game. According to their comuters I am threwing the ball at about 14.5 mph with 290-300 revs off the hand.  My PAP is 5 and 1/4 over with 1/2 up.

I have an artificial hip which restricts me from colapsing my left hip so I end up with amore straight up approach.  I use to swing the ball from a inside out shot but now find its more comfortable and therefore more consistent to play up the boards.

the ouside shot is a little more dry so I would like some advice on how to drill the ambush for a down and in pattern.

Thanks for the help.   Dr. "C"

Your "Brunswick Nation" has been dismal.  I am not a novice at thisa game with 3 sanctioned 298 games and 7 700 sanctioned series all after reaching 60 and using 12lb quantum balls. So when I ask for some advice from you so called experts it pisses me off that I don't get any consideration....UP YOURS

Ok, so you leave a post up for a few hours, and then get irritated?  It's a SUNDAY, not a lot of people hang around the site on Sundays.  But to answer your question, it'll be hard to make a particle ball go down and in on a shot with drier boards on the outside, however, the Ambush doesn't rev very early, and really doesn't rev much period, so coverstock grip is really what you have to worry about.  Go with something like 5 1/2 by 4, or 5 by 3 (for a little more pop on the end).  Your pap isn't too far from mine, and something else I might suggest (as I like the roll of the ball better) is to go with something like 4 1/2 by 5, give it a little stronger pin position, but pull the cg closer to your centerline so it's less likely to overreact or go too nuts on you too quickly.  If you like a smoother reaction, that's the one I'd suggest going with.  Don't worry though, the Ambush has plenty enough pop however you drill it.  It's not a ball you'll find yourself shooting through the breakpoint with.
