Carry Down
« on: January 19, 2005, 02:49:32 AM »
I need to know what r the best types of balls (2 piece or 3 piece)and what type of drilling/s(generally speaking)work best for carry down.  Second arrow stringer balls roll too soon leaving nothing to corner on for the backend and weaker stuff or drillings goes to long from deep inside to turn.  Ends up leaving washouts.  I bowl around 17, 18 19 miles hr. with a pretty good amount of hit and rev.

STRONG low RG pearls!

Inferno is the easiest to recommend, "lower rg" layouts work better with longer oil or carry down, especially with your ball speed.

With the Inferno, I'd keep the pin 4-5" from your PAP under the bridge, with the cg in the thumb/side quadrant. Weight holes are generally needed with this layout to make the ball legal.

Here is an example of mine.

Wow, Nick for a guy with a rev reputation that's a strong drilling. I'm surprised.

I've found most control and success with this drilling on pearl balls. It blends the reaction out, and makes it easy to read. The Inferno is phenomenal, and its great how this ball reacts with different layouts and surfaces.

OK, I believe you. I should try this on one of the Activator coverstocks. Hmm, I'm redrilling my Intense soon ...
