Title: Inferno Not For Tweeners?
Post by: seadrive on August 31, 2003, 08:13:49 PM
In a different post on the Inferno, charlest said:

quote:
It's good for people without a lot of hand and for those with a lot of hand. For the in-betweeners, it can be problematic.

Charlest, can you expand a bit on that idea?  Sounds like an interesting topic.

What problems would a tweener have with the Inferno, and why?

(Edited to remove potential inaccuracies. Seadrive, this is not a topic I should have commented upon. sorry.)

Hmm...interesting.  My experiences seem to be in direct contrast to those of charlest.  I'm a tweener, and the Inferno works *great* for me.  It gives me a look that I don't have with anything else in the bag, almost reminiscent of the original Sapphire Zone.  Also, it seems that the guys that have had the most success with the Inferno out here are the tweeners;  both the high-revvers and the straighties that I've seen either get too much or not enough out of the ball.  Of course, the (generally poor) condition of the lane surfaces out here may have a lot to do with this.

I'll have to pay closer attention to the surface preparations and layouts that people are using in their Inferno, and see if I can glean anything from that.

I'm a tweener and it works great for me.

I think coming off the side of this ball tends to delay its initial move and even it out paradoxically.  A lot of folks who call themselves tweeners do seem to have success, but only if their rev to speed ratio isn't too high and if they don't have too much forward roll.  It also rolls out or loses energy at the pins for my style and styles like mine.  For some folks, it has absolutely kicked.  For others, ping, ping, ping....
