Introducing.........The Backdraft (and possibly Zenith)
« on: January 24, 2005, 11:30:12 AM »
How many of you would like to try out a fire quantum core, wrapped in the original activator cover?  WOuldn't that be sweet?  Bob7 and i think so, and we need 998 other orders to make it happen.  Brunswick will remake any core with any cover for an order of 1000.  We think this would be an awesome ball to try, but we have to place an order of 1000 balls, so it's obvious we'll need help.  Ask people you bowl with if they'd be interested, i think this could be the best ball ever.

We were thinking of calling it the Backdraft.

EDIT:  Bobmatt and i have come up with a second ball to compliment it, the Zenith.  It will have the core of an ultimate inferno, but a solid pk18 coverstock.  Specs right now are:

Backdraft
Fire quantum core- low rg, .032 differential (low)
Original activator pearl coverstock
Black, with bright green pearl

Zenith
Ultimate inferno core- 2.513 RG, .05 differential
Solid Powerkoil 18 coverstock
Black and old hammer pink seems to be the choice

WE will make the backdraft first and if it works out, we'll make the zenith.

I wrote this in another post but didn't notice the backdraft here.  i was thinking a Backdraft Inferno, with the original inferno core, with an all new activator or activator+ PARTICLE PEARL coverstock.  Just a thought.

If you want, i can use my creativity like i did with the solder zone.

Well, we'll probably have the name, and then "b-nation" for the company.  Mabye we could have a logo?

EDIT:  Bobmatt says if they are shipped to him first, he can use the engraver at the pro shop he works at.  So the ball name, with "Brunswick Nation", and a logo....

Why dont you call the ball Cinder, after the flaming character from the old Nintendo 64 Killer Instincts video game?  I always liked that name.  Or how about a low load particle activator+ cover matched with the med rg II core....  They could call it Towering Inferno?

You guys should get an ad for ballreviews.com on there, maybe talk the owner into sponsoring the balls. Or you could talk to tony at allbowling.com, see if he'd sponsor it for a little advertising.

I like the backdraft idea, but think that low-rg pk18 would not be a fun ball. Wayyyy too rolly I would bet.

How about something with n-control or pk17? If its anything like the red/black monster, be careful, nick smith might buy the whole batch! Maybe put it in a low diff core, one more advertised towards a control ball, such as the tour power(we all know how popular that ball is now).

Colors on the ball sound awesome, Black and green swirls sound spiffy!

I'd really like to see this happen, you guys should get in touch with brunsrich, maybe he knows an estimated cost for this.

the danger zone is VERY similar in specs to the inferno...LOW rg, .047 (vs .05) and pk18!

And I also never liked the danger zone... I have a teamate who still has one, and I throw it every once in a while. Ball never seems to roll right for me, just doesn't fit my game well. O vell though, you can produce whatever you want, it is your company!

I wonder if it was an option to have the light load particle coverstock from the Power Grooves (especially the pearl one from the Proactive Plum Pearl) combined with a medium RG core - for example the doorknob core from the Monster series, or maybe even the asymmetric core from the Time or Warp Zone?

Should create a good, clean control ball for a wide variety of conditions and would fit into the BVP series, where a light particle is missing.

This would probably comparable to the golden nugget from lane 1 (pk17 light particle load), but yes, this really is missing from the lineup if you are looking for that exact coverstock, but it can be duplicated through other balls.

WEll, it looks like we could make the balls and everything, but it all comes down to one problem....Money.  Matt and I are trying to figure out where we can get the initiial $40000-50,000 to pay for the stuff.  After its all said and done we'd be easily in the clear, but we aren't sure where to get the money to finance this.  Uh oh.

ANyone have any ideas?

HUh?  Straight from the Ultimate itself, it says "0.050".  Which is equal to ".05".

NOT!

The Ultimate Inferno specs, from the Brunswick Web site:

RG Max: 2.513”
RG Min: 2.463”
RG Diff: 0.050”
RG Avg: 2.6

Last time I checked, .05 is equal to 0.050.
