Introducing.........The Backdraft (and possibly Zenith)
« on: January 24, 2005, 11:30:12 AM »
How many of you would like to try out a fire quantum core, wrapped in the original activator cover?  WOuldn't that be sweet?  Bob7 and i think so, and we need 998 other orders to make it happen.  Brunswick will remake any core with any cover for an order of 1000.  We think this would be an awesome ball to try, but we have to place an order of 1000 balls, so it's obvious we'll need help.  Ask people you bowl with if they'd be interested, i think this could be the best ball ever.

We were thinking of calling it the Backdraft.

EDIT:  Bobmatt and i have come up with a second ball to compliment it, the Zenith.  It will have the core of an ultimate inferno, but a solid pk18 coverstock.  Specs right now are:

Backdraft
Fire quantum core- low rg, .032 differential (low)
Original activator pearl coverstock
Black, with bright green pearl

Zenith
Ultimate inferno core- 2.513 RG, .05 differential
Solid Powerkoil 18 coverstock
Black and old hammer pink seems to be the choice

WE will make the backdraft first and if it works out, we'll make the zenith.

For shame Nick, and you call yourself a staffer.  I think this means now you have to fund our operations.

Hmm, you guys, i thought of something.  If brunswick allowed us, we'd be able to use the money from the Br orders (probably about 50), as a "down payment", similar to what you do with a car.  Then, we could pay brunswick back, instead of doing everything at once, which is impossible without a major amount of trust from someone with loads of cash, that we'd pay them back.

Just don't get your differentials confused with your BAC.

OBTW, 0.08 is the legal limit for both.  Many bowlers love beer.  Coincidence?

USBC is cutting that back to .06, think the State of CA will do the same?

I'd be willing to help design a ball graphic for you.

I agree a low rg low diff. ball.  I loved my tour power and would love to throw this puppy.  Put me down for one maybe even two.

This got a little of topic, but basically a low rg, low differential zone with activator would potentially be excellent.  Reasons:

1) Low rg, low diff balls in general are hard to find, and those around have developed a great cult following ( tour power, pulse, and not many others )

2). Activator seems to be at its best with the lower rg cores.

I think you would be looking at a ball similar to the Bruiser, but with even more lane control and plenty of hit.

Yeah, that's pretty much the idea.  I think it would really be responsive to rev rate, speed and everything put into the ball.

ok so this sounds majorly cool, has anyone contacted anybody at brunswick to see if there is interest.  I mean you probably could easily sell 100 on here, the name is cool the setup is good, does it overlap with anything currently in the brunsiwck arsenal of balls?  If not it should be an easy sell, and maybe one of the lesser companies that use brunswick, IE Elite, bulldog.or one of those would be willing to put up some change

Yes, i've contacted Brunswick.  they do private label balls, and we'd need to order 500 for them to make them.  That's the only problem though, is getting the money needed to pay for brunswick's production of the balls.  Bob7 and i have already done the math and we've figured out we'd end up making money, but the thing is we have to find a way to get the initial amount owed to brunswick.  I'll have to contact them further.

And roto, thanks for the suggestions.

I agree, low diff, low rg with activator would be best. Activator doesn't respond well to higher rg cores, and low diff seems to be a fan favorite.

I would like one, however, how would you go about contacting all of the people who want this ball, and how will you get it to us? Can you give some more information?

Why not Lime Green and a bright Hugger Orange...Both old Mopar car colors from the early 70's. Pattern the colors on the ball like that Karate symbol...so when you throw it you can see the two seperate colors flipping over...It will Hypnotize the competition.

If we could get Brunswick to see how many people on our site is interested, maybe it would be worth for them to release this ball and more than likely they would sell many more than just from us on the site...its a no lose,no lose situation.

also I design ball logos and could give you my opinion of the Back Draft logo...yet another step toward getting Brunswick to release this on their own...
