Is my C-2 burning up in the mids??
« on: January 13, 2010, 04:36:10 AM »
I'm getting a pretty weak backend reaction form my C-2 when compared to my Awesome Flip as well as my TF pearl.

The ball seems to struggle to turn the corner and tends to hit fairly weak..

Lack of oil?

AF layout is the same and the the TF has a stronger layut on it..

Any chance it needs oil extraction?? Thats how a ball reacts for me when its time to get the oil out.

On the higher friction surfaces (older synthetics, wood) mine needed a bit of polish to avoid that same issue. Try some shine. Don't worry. It will still be very useable on the other lane surfaces this way.

By the way, I tried an oil extraction on mine after quite a few games and nothing came out... NOTHING AT ALL!

If you can''t tell what is happening, have your ball driller watch and see if the two of you together can tell if it''s burning up, needs a different surface, maybe isn''t the right layout, or just not being used on the right conditions for how you have it set up.

Recommendations on here are helpful, but nothing beats seeing ball reaction first hand, in person.......and knowing what to look for.

That beast was a monster when I drilled it for him, however, that 4000 pad finish can polish up pretty fast. Vince isn''t too local to my shop, usually only see him when I drill something new.

Your house has a higher volume of oil than the boneyards I bowl in. When I tossed it there, it was/is a beast

I also get the same reaction with my Scorchin Inferno and Break 75. That's why I'm thinking there's not enough oil to keep this piece from burning up in the mids as well..

You might want to try glossing it up.

I bowl league on Fridays at a center with synthetics in front and 40-year-old wood in back, and there are two guys having success with their C-(S) 2.5's with polish.  One has softer speed, and the other has a high rev rate and an inverted track (sound familiar?).  For both of them, the polish really helped get the ball to the break.

In my case I believe I hit it to about 2000 (just to have a starting point) then added a VERY SMALL amount of Storm''s Xtra Shine.

In my opinion a small amount of polish is a good step and will probably do the trick for you. A major overhaul of the cover may be too extreme. Good luck.

Well given it''s a young ball (low games) it appears if it is burning up midlane and nothing left downlane it has to be lack of oil....

Maybe go 4000 + Valentino UFO (good shiznit)

Why not just ball down and go with it?  i''m somewhat in the same boat tho, I''d love to be in my NVD in league, it''s just wayyyy too strong...

Ask yourself, would Obama throw this C-2 in this case (Lol, JUST A JOKE, take it in stride)

It's a new toy and I'd really like to use it. But, you're right. It's just too much ball for what I'm seeing. My TFP is seing more action now than when I got it two years ago. It's an amazing piece for lighter patterns (not dry, but lighter)..

Thanks Nick.

My previous post was not intended as any endorsement. Had I used the Brunswick High Gloss polish I may have needed to add a touch more surface underneath because of it's extreme polishing attributes.
