Is there a Blast Zone in the house?
« on: November 24, 2007, 06:53:09 AM »
Is this ball flying under the radar like no other ball in recent history?  I've been looking for a ball with a little coverstock recently and this ball has caught my eye, once again.  I looked at the ball when it was released, some decades ago(lol).  Now, I'd like to hear some feedback from those of you who've thrown it.  I was looking to punch one out with a pin over bridge(5-5.5) drilling with a little polish on her to add just the right amount of length.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

I love mine.  Pin over middle and MB about one inch left of thumb. The thing flat out hooks for me.  So I put some polish on it and it rolls beautifully for me.  I don't think you'll regret getting this.

Thanks, Kyle.

Scott, think that ball would fit in over @ LRL?

John--You can make most balls work with your rev rate and ball speed.  All depends at LRL what pair you draw.  I'd think again they are going to keep the outside dry and puddle in middle not as drastic as Dream Lanes.  Keep the Blast Zone at 2000 abralon so that it won't over react off the dry outsides?

My ball driller has the patent for the original core hanging in the proshop.  He now has 3 of them drilled for himself and my brother just got one drilled.  These balls roll awesome, I'd get one too if I didn't like to be different.

I love mine.
A little too dull at first, then tried it at 2000 abralon and it was better, then tried it slightly polished and it was even better still.
Dull it can handle more oil than you'd expect, and shiny will be better if you play more towards friction.

I have mine drilled 5-1/2" form my axis under my middle finger and the PSA at 70 degrees and took it to 2000 abralon. Very smooth but strong and continous in the back. I'm thinking about drilling another one 5-1/2" from axis with a 10 degree pin to VAL and 80 PSA angle and hit it with either ruff buff or high gloss.

This is definately a must have ball. I would imagine that this ball would be great for the Shark pattern since I matched up with a Vapor Zone drilled the same. Something a little stronger might be nice on that pattern.

I have a Blast Zone that is at OOB with a 4 inch pin which is under the ring finger and the PSA at 60 degrees. This ball has the most continuation I have ever seen. I mostly throw it on the shark and the scorpion patterns. I also have shot 300 with this ball last week. It hooks and never stops.

I bowled against Andrew Cain last weekend in a tournament, he started out with an ambush then in the second and third game he used the blast zone I didn't catch how he had it drilled but he started up the wood and then jumped way inside and the ball was smooth and strong, very nice rolling piece. The lanes were very dry on the outside
