Title: Light oil?
Post by: Barbarian2990 on October 30, 2008, 09:20:10 AM
IDK im kinda between here i have a twisted fury pearl and i need something to go below it.The TF is drilled 4 3/4in from pap and below the fingers. Im between either the avalanche pearl or slide. I like a smoother reaction but some say the slide is smoother but i dont want anything to close to my TF. is the slide what i want. also what drill i was thinking a 5in but people keep saying dont drill these weak?

Don't drill the Avalanche weak! Only Sean Rash can get away with that.

The Avalanche Slide is slightly longer and more angular than the Avalanche Pearl. The most smooth Avalanche is the solid.

hahaha i agree about the sean rash comment. but yes the avalanche would be a great addition. i also heard something about a dry zone that is overseas though. suppose to be a good ball.

I have an Avalanche Pearl drilled up with the Pin 5' from my PAP and the CG in the center of the grip. The ball is awesome on short patterns like Cheetah. It is very clean through the front and makes a hard, continuous turn to the pocket. I have seen the Slide, haven't drilled the slide yet, probably will to complement the Pearl. I've seen it thrown by a friend how is a good bowler. I've observed that it is at least as clean as the Pearl with stronger motion on the backend. I'm concerned that on the same short pattern (Cheetah), it may be too much on the back. Maybe a go to ball when he shot starts to break down a bit and the Pearl starts to lose the break point. If/when I drill it I'll probably set it up similar to my Pearl so as to compliment it. Bottom line...I would not hesitate to drill the Pearl for what you are describing it is a great piece.

I agree the Ave pearl is a good compliment to the TF pearl.  I have both and the Ave works great when the TF is hooking too much

A Power Groove or the PG Dry/R are also very good choices for light oil. Pretty underestimated.
