Title: Limited Zone Classic!
Post by: Next Level PS on April 27, 2005, 03:51:42 PM
I heard the guys in the warehouse made a boo boo in the factory I heard they use the Punisher cover with Zone Classic core. I hear  Big B is dumping these on the distributor next week at a GREAT price. I hear this one will have a RED pin. if any one wants one i will have for $90 shipped but the price is subject to change.

NLPS,

Are you saying punisher core with activator? OR Zone Classic core with Punisher cover?

Which is which?

The Zone Classic has a purple/black pin the newer one will have red pin. It has the zone Classic core with a purple Punisher coverstock.

This sounds awesome.... DEFINATELY something I'd go for, because a Punisher is just a little TOO clean for my needs.

I guess I one of the weird ones then.  Maybe that's why it's hooks less than my SlayR.  I'll have vid this weekend.

I bought one of these (w/red pin) used from usedbowlingballs.com about 2 months ago.  Have yet to try to throw it or redrill it yet though.

write me down for one.
punisher cover is weak but the classic core spins up so quick. talk about a ball that will go long and turn the corner hard!
So much for brunswick balls rolling early! this ball will maybe be mistaken for a storm ball if not careful.

I think you are mistaken about this ball having the Punisher coverstock. Rico, can you shed some light on this?

I was informed by the guy who sold it to me that it was a blem.  And he works for whatever company that actually makes the bowling balls.  Not only does it have a RED PIN but there's also the number 2 in the "B".

Here's the email I got from him...

We had a Run of Classics (ABout 50) That are considered "2nd's" for one reason. When the ball was made they used the wrong color for the Riser Pin. Other than that they are all PBA approved and in Spec.

Yeah that's just on my CZ.  Mine could be just a blem and the others the actual Punisher/CZ.

Could it be that they were talking about the Red Alert 300? This one IS a Zone Classic (Activator coverstock, same core), but it looks like a Punisher, just silver and grey?

I wonder if it's related to Mo Pinel's, of MoRich, intending to market a ball with the Punisher's N'Control coverstock on his own asymmetric core? Brunswick does manufacture all MoRich's balls now.

I just got of the horn with both my distribs and they said there is Zone Classic that is coming out next week. One with the Red pin with the wrong cover and another with the activator with bad pigment.

Here's more information from my inside source...

quote:
I can't remember which which Coverstock they messed up and ran the ZC core with but I spent a day last week getting about 2000 of them ready to ship. Its a Light Purple coverstock. When our Staff pro had one drilled and tried it out he came back laughing. It was 6 boards less aggressive. I think they might release them as Zone Classic Tour editions. LOL Some were cast with red pins and some got green pins too. You can definately tell the difference in the coverstock though. If you ever see one of the "Tour editions" you'll laugh your a55 off at how ugly they are.

I made a post around christmas time about the "Ugly Classics" that we got in the shop.  They were a bright pink/purple swirl, but everyone said it was probaly due to the weather.  I guess some leaked out back then too.

+1 for what Rich stated.  My CZ hooks less than my SlayR.  I also use it as my spare ball.

I was about to order a Dry/R but now I don't need to.  *WOOT*

I'm looking for a ball for medium-dry conditions.
Currently have:

Absolute = Med/Heavy
Original = Medium
________ = Medium/Dry

How would red-pin CZ compare to a Punisher? or Slay/R? Just as long? Angular?
Ideally want it to go longer than my OI but still have some backend.  Which drilling layout? Thanks
