My father-in-law just gave me a used d2z, what should I expect out of this ball?

Expect STRIKES!

Seriously, if you'll have it de-oiled (Revivor or Rejuvenator) and resurfaced you should have a very predictable ball that will handle medium and/or lighter oil depending on your ability to move on the lane. It's cover is very versatile and takes surface adjustments well.

Wish I had known that when I bought one 87 years ago.

...And after 87 years the PK18 cover would still be going strong!
