LT-48 or C (System) Versa Max? (Or DV8 Dude)
« on: February 21, 2015, 12:27:29 AM »
I'm torn between these two balls. I did have a Maxxed Out last year (but it cracked) and I loved how that rolled. The LT-48 I've heard is also a pretty good ball, even compared to the Versa Max.

Current Lineup:
Mastermind
Karma Urethane
Hammer Cold Blood

Would getting one of these be a logical choice? Personal experiences with either?
One better than the other? Any comments appreciated.

Edit: Now considering the DV8 Dude.

The LT48 is a great must have ball that is still easily available.  I just drilled one a month ago and have been extremly happy with this ball.

What is the true lane condition this ball should be rolled on? Just worried that the core might be a little too weak for my liking.

Knock the gloss off the cover and the LT-48 will be one of the best balls you'll ever use.  It just reads what's there.  No over/under with this ball!

Anything but heavy at box.  Cover is much stronger then I expected. The ball hooks.

Yes, in some ways it is more versatile than the Versa Max, depending on surface of course. Naturally handles the lighter end of the spectrum better.

I think you are right on in your concern for the differences.

The C System Max is a low rg high flare solid.  Big motor strong early cover ball.
The new LT 48 vintage is a higher rg lower diff motor in a pushier cover.

Around our wet dry house with often carrydown the big motor C system Maxxed looked really great for some of good throwers.  The LT 48 looks great but some days lacks the hit at the back with it's smaller motor.  (I have it)

The Versa Max in our house was very over under in box and only seemed to work well when dulled for some of our very good bowlers.

Me....I'd stick with the C System Maxxed if it were me  If your condition has much of this slop at the back I'd go for a bigger motor.
...Here's some good ones.

In light of the comments above, if you have back ends that stay pretty fresh.....for a set fine. LT 48 is great!  Need to power through some slop...C system Maxxed is a good one.  Soon to drill mine.

Ok so looking at prices, I can get both for about $100.
Mainly what I'm looking for is something that could possibly be a benchmark ball. And something good for carry down.

Which handles this better? I've heard both handle it very well. Judging from what you guys have said, the LT-48 is the better ball. Hmmm, decisions.....

Personally, I'm leaning a tad toward the Versa Max...

If u can get a versamax for $100 do it, otherwise a LT48 vintage is still great.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Have both LT-48 is more versatile but Versa Max will handle heavier oil patterns

Just curious where you are getting a NIB versa max from? Rather hard to find and if you can your going to pay a hefty price for it.

It's not NIB but it's a single drill fully plugged, resurfaced, the whole process from what I could tell. I wish I could find one NIB for a decent price...

BTW, this website has quite the collection, like the original Gold Rhino Pro, original Blue Hammer, Danger Zone, VG Nano, among others. Anyone ever use this site before because it took me a bit of searching to come across it.

Edit: So now the DV8 Dude caught my eye. Looking at reviews, this seems similar to the Versa Max, if not slightly stronger. Could anyone offer some input?

If carry down is an issue, the Versa Max is much better.  It has a stronger cover and core.  It's high flaring core works well with oil downlane, as long as you adjust the surface.  The LT48 is a great ball, but requires friction downlane.  Any carry down and it can wiggle a little.

Ok the DV8 Dude definitely has my attention now. Doesn't help that I've been considering getting a DV8 ball for some time now. Anyone at all can compare the Dude to the Versa Max?

The LT 48 would fit best between the balls you have listed without question.  As Many have said it is a fantastic ball with a bit of surface on it.  It also works well on lighter conditions with shine on it.  I would also recommend looking at the Melee Cross.  It is an earlier reading symmetrical. It reads a bit later than the maxxed out and has improved versatility.  It is the sleeper in the lineup.
