Got my Fury...
« on: April 06, 2007, 06:09:47 AM »
...or "Furry" as the guys at the center call it, since its so dull

Its a 4" by 3 1/2" pattern or so.  I have a pretty decent rev rate (see profile), and I wanted something that would flare in the oil and have guts on the backend.

This thing is a beast.  I tried it (box finish) after league on wood, I was sliding about 50 crossing the arrows around 30, 10-12 at breakpoint and it would HIT!  I was very impressed.  I was getting about 4" of flare in the oil, about 2.5-3 after the oil.

I can't say I buy into the hype that this thing is so aggressive you have to use really weak pin positions on it.  Both of the guys at the shop I drilled mine at used the superweak pin positions like it says in the video on the Brunswick site. One has rev rate close to mine, his pin is above the middle finger with cg in thumb positive quadrant (5 1/2 x 4 1/2), no x-hole, and it flares about 2-2 1/2" in the oil.  The other is a lefty, his has the 'pin down hole down' pattern on it with a massive flare-increasing crater, and it only flares about 2" in the oil (about half my rev rate).

I'm very happy with mine.  It will be a great ball to use on the fresh in Reno I belive, even if only to try and open the lanes up.  One way or another, its a great heavy oil ball to replace the Inferno line with.
