« on: March 01, 2007, 01:51:41 PM »
Getting my Fury next wednesday, just curious if anyone has any suggestions on how to drill it, i'm going to go pin above fingers for sure, i really want it to get down the lane. my axis is 5 1/4 over 1/2 up. 15-16mph..rev rates? average-ish. kind of thinkin 4 x 4, anyone have any luck with something like that? lmk.

That's how I have mine drilled (4 x 4).  I will throw it for the first time tonight in my mixed league.  I think that drilling makes good sense since you are not maxing it out nor is it an extreme length drilling.  I can always punch a flare increasing X-hole out if I want it to be more aggressive, or I can polish it up to get it down the lane more.  I believe 4 x 4 is a very safe drilling that can cover a variety of conditions, but I'll see for sure tonight.
--------------------
My 06-07 Arsenal:
  • FURY (box finish, 4 x 4) = Heavy to Heavy/Medium

  • Cobalt Bomb Solid (box finish, 4 x 3.5) = Medium/Heavy to Medium

  • Agent (box finish, stacked lev) = Medium *Cracked - Storm Is Replacing*

  • DOOM (box finish, label lev) = Medium to Medium/Light

  • Power Groove Dry/R (box finish, 5 x 4.5) = Light/Medium to Light

  • Red XXXL (box finish, label lev) = Dry

For Sale/Trade:
  • *NIB* 15# Brunswick Inferno (3" Pin)

  • *Like New (Only 1 Game)* 15# Vendetta Maxx (box finish, label lev)

The 15# Fury only has a modest differential of .043 and a medium to low RG of 2.49.  Why do you believe a 4 x 4 drilling will produce overflare and early burn out?  You could always apply rough buff or factory finish high gloss polish.  I just seem to feel that it is much easier to get more length than it is to produce earlier and more hook on a ball that comes 800 grit wet sand oob.  Just my .02

Well, the only ball I've ever had burn out (roll out) was my Action and I drilled it 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 with a flare increasing X-hole in its oob finish.  That was my fault maxing out a ball with a low RG of 2.457 and a high differential of .050.  I won't be doing that again.

4.5 X 3.5 or 4.5 X 5 with the pin 3.5 above midline on either. Moderate length with good backend pop.

I just tried out my fury today in league(sat morning junior). 247-253-246 for 746. Not to bad for a first run with it. Mine is rico1 and the cover is 1000 grit. Just punched it out last night before I left the shop. Really strong continuous roll. Probably the smoothest rolling ball Ive ever thrown. Great ball from what I can see, although so is every ball for the first couple games... Oh, and it hooks ALOT. Way more than I wanted, but hey what can you do?
Pic of it in my profile.
