This is GENIUS!!! Pun intended. I just last week told my Dad to pull his old LT-48 out of the closet, as the conditions I have been seeing lately.....I believe this ball would excel on. And WHOA!! You guys go and bring back a Vintage LT-48!!!
Looks as if this core is a bit bigger though. Should be a sure enuff winner!
And this Mastermind Genius, I predict will be flying off your shelves. Way to go Brunswick. Your research guys are to be commended.
-
Look good. Genius looks a lot like the defiant soul to me. Probably a lot different in person though.
LT 48 should sell well.
-
I gotta say, as someone who never really matched up well with Brunswick, the ball motion out of the new pieces is really nice. Way to go, Big B.
-
I would've loved for them to actually remake the LT-48 Gold/Rhino Pro LE. I loved that core.
-
The plan is to release one Vintage ball per year.
That should be a future topic: What is next year's Vintage release? But not yet! Let's take a few months to enjoy what we already have!
-
Waiting for the Evil Mastermind...

Yeah right, not on this site. Balls aren't even out and guys are clamoring for the next, next release. I.E., I give it a week before guys are asking about Pearl Hyper Cells.

Yup, definitely brighter. Looks good.

The Phantom?
The Sapphire Zone?
The Riot Zone?
The Inferno?

LT-48!!!!! Might be looking into that gem! Exciting to see the oldies coming back! My Melee is looking better and better and I just may need to add the LT-48 to give me a better look when they start drying up!
-
The Genius looks good. Very much like the RG release mentioned.
I am more excited about the Vintage line. Not for the LT48, which does look good, but for the possibilities of other releases to come in that series. Maybe a Rhino, maybe a Zone, maybe a Quantum esq release. At a price point many would be willing to try. Similar to what was done in the recent overseas releases.

Danger Zone Legacy
Quantum Legacy
Rhino Pro Legacy

I think this Mastermind will be a better ball overall; the first one is almost "too" strong and not able to be used on most conditions. I'm excited to see a hybrid cover from Big B--- not a huge fan of the core (didn't like the Aura series either) but maybe they'll use the new cover on some old 'Zone cores for a more modern look?
So, why a new LT-48? Are they discontinuing the Strike King line? How much different will the shape/reaction be over the Platnium and original Ringer?

Rhino?
-
Genius looks pretty but the idea of the vintage line has me really excited. They could release multiple Vintage balls all at once, and make alot of people happy. My Dream List would be:
1. Teal Rhino
2.Gold Rhino
3.Saphire Zone
4. Danger Zone
5. Combat Zone
6. Inferno.
7. Eliminator
Way to go Brunswick a great idea.
-
Sapphire Zone (w/PK 17) for toast would be SWEET!
-
How about a Mark-X, minus the ripples in the cover.
-
mmm original.
virtual gravity orange blue black solid
mastermind - orange blue black solid
virtual energy green gold black hybrid
mastermind genius green gold black hybrid...
-
Definitely going to pick up the genius...seems like a ball that could work on medium given the right layout...I thought the orignal would be to much ball for my conditions but I know a guy who has been hammering every week since he got one

...As if every Storm or Roto ball was the first ever to use their chosen color scheme...
Let's be real here. Whether one company learns something from another really doesn't matter. Look at Roto Grip's "learning from" the DV8 success the past year in their marketing with loud colors and names, etc. I had a rep from that factory admit it, but really, who cares? It's a competitive market, and if you think these companies are not watching each other very closely you're naive.
A few years back a certain manufacturer had a new Brunswick release before I had even gotten mine, and they had it cut in half...
-
Ooooookay. Didn't they say the same thing about the Melee? Aren't people finding out the Melee goes long and doesn't over hook? The LT-48 is a Melee in the color they should have made it in the first place.
-
The LT-48 will be weaker than the Melee and smoother reaction.

So its a plastic ball?
-
No, the Vintage LT-48 is a solid reactive.

LOL! I threw a friend's Melee to see how it'd roll for me. The numbers from his layout as a righty would be pretty much my benchmark. 1 ball,... went 60ft. LOL! I like the idea of the LT-48, I know it isn't intended for a guy like me but I think it may be in my bag.
-
Its all a joke. Strike King=LT-48=Melee. At least that's what Brunswick's videos and commentary would have you believe.
-
I think your assumptions have you believing the strike king=melee=lt 48........
-
Uhhhh, my assumptions have each ball interchangable in that equation as they are all the same.
-

No they aren't, the Brunswick staffers will assure us no such thing is going on. Tell him guys.....
-
I don't know yet, but my Melee is stronger than the Strike King. The Melee and the Platinum Ringer are pretty close, but I would anticipate the LT-48 being much more smooth than the Strike King or Platinum Ringer off the breakpoint. Will I play similar areas on the lane? Probably within a few boards... Stay tuned.
-
Bowlersdeals.com has the their videos up. As long as it's the normal lane condition the lt-48 doesn't appear to be much weaker than most entry level balls. But that could be the THS talking.
The genius in comparison to the soul and virtual energy only looks similar not exact. The green is more prominent and minty.
The soul has navy and the energy had more a darker teal/emerald color.
It's those wonderful stock pics. Why do the manufacturers do that? Utah does it, San Antonio does it, Mexico does it...Kentucky does it. ...why? I understand they put the "actual color or pattern may differ" lone but still?
-
Mastermind is way too much ball for me. But the vintage series excites me.
Since I still have a Teal Rhino Pro, Gold Rhino Pro, Raven Quantum - and I've owned and sold a Danger Zone, Sapphire Zone solid, Combat Zone (solid and pearl), and numerous Quantums (Fire, Jade, Violet, Imperial, and Forest Green) - I'd like to see a reissue of the Sapphire Zone Pearl. PK17 pearl and Zone core! I would've said Fire Quantum but I have my Ringer lol.
-
I like the look of the LT-48. Not sure I will buy one but doesn't mean I wouldn't for the right price heh.
-
you guys are getting super specific on certain releases..
It will be a phantom, a rhino, a quantum, a zone, and a inferno so on and so fourth....There won't be 7 quantums lol.
-
Lets be honest, if they put out a gold rhino pro, it would sell like mad!

You can say that again. Part of the IQ Tour Pearls success I attribute to the aesthetic look of the Gold Rhino. The average bowler, you know the one with beer belly, wrangler jeans, and floppy hair with no product in it would say "Is that an old rhino pearl? "
-
Considering the ball is in looks only and uses new covers and cores I wouldn't expect them to bring back any coverstocks like pk17 ect. It will be a new take on the original for "todays conditions". Assuming this makes it pass a one ball release. Ebonite did an anniversary of the Puma and Nitro that didn't really go over well. The three overseas releases of the Zone, Rhino, and Quantum looked good so who knows.

Good call on the Puma, the re release was a dart. A lot of people want these nostalgic balls because they shot 258 in 2001 in league one time.
-
If they really want to bring back a great ball, I would opt for the Vapor Zone. My guess is they already have just with a different cover color, and shell name.
-
If you want Infernos look at the Radical Torrid Elite and Torrid Affair.
I love the old school look of the all black LT-48. Makes me think of the Versa!

Good call--same with the original Torrid; can't wait to get one!

How about a Mark-X, minus the ripples in the cover.
Shot one of my highest series with that ball!
I think it was because I could grip the ripples.
-
Every company rereleases balls. They just don't always put the same name on them.
(I would buy a Jaguar remake, though)
