Drilled up my Scholar last week. Box finish is super clean with a lot of length. Great for playing more direct, on later shifts, or lanes with some good backends. For me, and just to get out and use on the fresh I used 1000 siaair then 4000 siaair to knock the shine off and get a better reaction in more oil. Ball picks up sooner and allows me to use more then I could during a normal league night at box finish.
Very fun ball to throw.
Info posted with vid: Brunswick Mastermind Scholar with about 3 games on it drilled
50 x 5" x 60 with a small p3 hole. Also my Mastermind Intellect with about 8 games drilled 55 x 5" x 30 with a p2 hole.
The Scholar at box finish is great for lower volumes of oil. Much cleaner through the front.

Thanks, nice video! The Scholar looks pretty good. I would suggest a better illumination for your next video (I know it is not your fault, but maybe you can find a lane with better light conditions)
Thanks for sharing.

We do not have well illuminated bowling centers.

Great video, love the way the balls finish through the pins..

Thank you. OOB would have had me standing another 5-7 boards right of where I am in the video. The 500 Siaair Micro Pad, Royal Compound, Royal Shine finish is a serious finish lol.
I prefer to adjust the surface of stuff so I can get it to be something easier I can recreate later and seems to have worked well. Usually 4000 or newspaper for stuff that would normally be a heavy polished finish.

Operator throws it well! :)

Thank you, after having a terrible season last year and getting in some bad habits it is great to turn things back around this season.

Any reason why you pin under the fingers on the Scholar?
-
2" pin and 3ozs top weight. Not having inserts I do not drill out as much finger weight so ideally 3" pins or less topweight and I can go with pin up options.
Used similar layout on my Schizo, Hooligan, Nexxxus, Thug ect and get a great reaction. The Intellect had a 3.75" pin.
I just try and focus more on pin to pap, surface, and weight hole options. If the pin is just above, in, or just below the fingers I think it will stay pretty close in reaction.

Just got my Scholar tonight. What a sweet rolling ball. Tremendous length and plenty of pop on the back end

.... Tremendous length and plenty of pop on the back end
Just the way I like it. Getting good vibes about the Scholar.

I thought my IQ tour nano was strong. After a week with the Scholar, I think overall it is stronger, more versatile and waaaaay more sexy going down the lane!
Overall I do believe it is just as strong and a little more versatile. Great piece from Big B would def recommend for someone who is looking for the long and STRONG reaction.
