brunswick arsenal
« on: December 27, 2013, 09:04:22 AM »
I recently put together a Hammer arsenal and I'm intrigue by some of the Brunswick pieces. I throw the ball around 18 mph and my rev rate is between 400 & 450. I bowl in two different houses. One house has a 37' shot and the other one is 42'. I'm looking to possibly put together a four ball arsenal with two of them being the mastermind and mystic. If I lay these two out the same, will the mystic compliment the mastermind? Also what other two should I drill for transition as the lanes breakdown and the mystic and mastermind are too much? I was thinking about the nexxxus and ringer or melee.

Melee is a cant miss ball IMO, I have 2 of them at different surfaces.  The Ringer Platinum is also a good ball, depending on the layout it can be flippy.  But the Melee and Ringer P compliment each other nicely.  I'm also drilling a Mastermind soon so the order in my bag will go Mastermind, Beatdown, Melee, Ringer, Strike King (which is also great for the pricepoint)

IMO... If you are already doing the Mystic, do not do a Nexxxus. There is not a big enough of a gap. Here is what I feel would be best. Mastermind, Mystic, Melee, Strike King. There will be a little bit of a gap between the Melee and Strike King, but if you drill the Strike King on the stronger side, that gap will be smaller.

Makes sense, no Nexxxus. If I layout the mastermind and mystic the same, will they compliment each other naturally?

I have found that the Mystic fits nicely between the Mastermind and the Melee. They will compliment each other.

I would do the Melee a tad weaker layout than the Mystic, just to try and close that gap between the Melee and Strike King. The Mystic is really good when moving deeper, so its usability is pretty long. Then you can change to the Melee, you may have to move right a little but that's not a big deal.

Stronger layout on the mastermind than what would be on the mystic?

I would drill the Mastermind and Mystic the same. Then drill the Melee a tad weaker than that. Then drill the Strike King stronger than the Melee.

How easy or difficult is it to repeat the oob surfaces on the brunswick equipment? Of course the Mastermind would be simple since it's just 500, 1500 siaair pad. But if I were to apply 500 siaair and rough buff would I get pretty close to oob surface? Also what is 500 siaar and rough buff similar to... 4000 abralon?

500 then rough buff is similar to a worn 2000 pad. I usually use the balls at factory surface for a few games to see what I really want it at. I almost always modify it in some way. And I will do it so it is easy to repeat.

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I think you could get away with a mastermind, 2 melees (one pin down with surface, one pin up at box, and platinum ringer or strike king, depending on how weak you wanna go. I tend to go straight from my mastermind to my pin up melee, because I am able to stay in the mastermind long enough. At this point, I don't see pulling out my mystic for 3 or 4 frames (drilled the same), when I can just trim back right a little and go straight to the melee. I just think the melees motion is so good that having 2 of these with different layouts will give you a little more versatility versus two high end asymm pieces.
