Need some suggestions
« on: January 27, 2009, 09:56:23 AM »
I currently play an original Fury polished up with Brunswick High Gloss polish and the ball is serving me quite well (229 avg in my league on a typical THS pattern). One thing that I struggle with sometimes is handling the 3rd game when the heads breaks down. I find that I have to either move left and play a bit more inside (original line is normally second arrow on right as I am right handed), or I move a bit right and play a straighter line with increased speed. Slightly pulled shots are a nemisis with either move. My questions are:

1) Is there a ball change that I can make that would allow me to continue to play my original line in the 3rd game (maybe Avalanche Slide)?

2)Should I go to a new ball to replace my current Fury setup (maybe a Wild Ride or a Twisted Fury) and return the Fury to its original out of box finish?

3)Are there another options?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks... Greggie

First of all, if it is working well with that setup, keep it that way. Just don't forget to clean it and extract oil regularly to maintain the reaction

As for the recommendations for the later games:

Since your Fury solid is polished, I do not believe you can stay in the same line with a Fury Pearl. However, it would give you stronger move down the lane, thus makes you use the inside line with great look. Excellent choice!

Or, I'd go either with Swarm or Rattler in your case, with lower pins (below bridge) and farther away pin-PAP distances (5 to 5-1/2 inches) to shot my angles down to stay close to the friction. If you encounter carry-down, go with the Rattler, if not, both would work great.

Although it's also a very versatile piece, I do not think Slide would be a good choice for a step down from polished Fury solid..
