Title: Melee cross vs Ringer Royal Blue
Post by: J_w73 on January 05, 2015, 06:10:59 PM
Does anyone know how these compare on the lane?  BTM game them both similar Hook, length, backend, and torque ratings.  They rated the Melee Cross for Medium and Oily conditions and the Ringer Royal Blue for Medium and Dry.

The Ringer solid is pretty strong. Id rate them very similar overall strength. The Cross goes longer and Ringer has more surface and reads sooner.

My Ringer was almost board for board with my Meanstreak Beatdown.

I agree they are close in strength. I have the Cross a few boards stronger down lane and a few boards stronger overall.  The strength seems to primarily be from the increased flare potential of the Melee Cross.

My Meanstreak Beatdown was quite a bit stronger than I have witnessed my Blue Ringer to be.

I left the coverstock out of box and was getting ready to weaken when it went into two pieces!  First Brunswick ever that was a single drill

My Ringer I had to weaken the coverstock to 2000 to make it playable and it has a lot of midlane with a very smooth controllable backend.  When it is right and finds the midlane it almost never leaves a 7 pin unless I am forced too deep!

An interesting thing about my Blue Ringer, weakened to 2000 and polished with Ebonite polish it pushes better than many of my Pearls which are even weaker in surface (usually 3000 grit) When it gets to that situation it is usually my winner for the night!  As it allows me to move a couple of boards left and my carry skyrockets.
It is not every night!
