Title: mexican made rampage
Post by: DON DRAPER on November 20, 2006, 01:49:11 PM
both of my bvp rampages are darker than what you see in the brunswick 2006-2007 catalog or on their website. more magenta and green than red and gold. ron bragg of brunswick e-mailed me today and told me that this is indeed a characteristic of the mexican made equipment. he also stated that in their testing between american made and mexican made equipment the balls roll and carry were every bit the same. in fact the mexican made equipment is up to a board stronger.

i saw a video clip of the mexico plant. it is truely a state of the art facility that is 2nd to none IMO. You'd be surprised at the ball making process.

Thats something that I would LOVE to see 1st hand. How a ball is made, start to finish.

As for the new rampages, I have heard they are slightly more aggressive. Thats not neccessarily a bad thing as the ball can use a little more sure footedness on a true medium oiled lane.

Doesn't this say more about the resin supplier than the fact that it's made in Mexico?
Or is the resin actually made in the plant or is it shipped in from elsewhere?

I don't know; so I'm asking.

A change in the PK 18 formula, after all these years, is a disturbing thought. Consistency in its formula has been a major factor to the positive for Brunswick. Whereas competing formulas, Like Columbia's Super-Flex, as good as it is, seems to change without Columbia's telling anyone. So Columbia's remakes, as opposed to Brunswick's, were always problematical until they were thoroughly tested. Brunswick's could be depended on, like clockwork.

According to Mo Pinel at his Awesome Rev seminar the covers coming out of the new facility are much stronger die to the temperature and humidity controlled area the casting is done. He said he has had to weaken his coverstock formulas as a result to keep the reaction the same as at the old plant. This casting process will make the balls much more consistent ball to ball

I bought my Rampage at the end of Summer and it was a Mexican.  Colors looked good to me, there is a pic of it in my profile.

Look at the serial #. American made had Made In USA with the # below it all engraved. The new Mexico balls are no longer engrqaved but use the same color as all the logos on the ball.
