Part of my total inferno turned pink...
« on: August 09, 2007, 04:53:38 AM »
When I bought my TI at the pro shop I was told if I noticed it losing its hook I should soak it in warm water to pull the oil out of the cover. After I took it out of the water it had a nice size area where it was red and its now pink.
Will the color come back once it drys? Or will I be the only guy on the lanes with a pink total?

Sounds like just a color phaze. Once you roll it and it pulls a touch of oil back in, it will look normal.

Thanks for the quick replys, I hope it goes back to its original color but I don't think it will matter performance wise so its not a big deal.

The funny thing about your post john is that in my league tonight there is a team called the hole pounders. lol

Color seemed to change on my Strike Zone after I soaked it in hot water. But after a couple of games, the color came back to normal.

It should come back.  Sometimes water can have that effect on bowling balls.

Reactive balls soak up oil, but they can also soak up water.  If you have water in the cover, it is likely just a very minute amount.

I had a ball that sat on some carpet in my bedroom. Little did I know that, after cleaning the carpet, my wife left it on a damp spot and it soaked into my ball, leaving a rather large discoloration spot on it.

I was told I could bleed it out with heat ( like baking the oil out ), but I never did.  Couldn't tell by its reaction that anything was wrong with it, and I used it for a while after that.  It never did get 100% back to normal appearance, but the performance wasn't affected at all.

Don't leave your ball in the water over a few minutes at a time and always make sure it is completely dry before setting it on anything that might hold moisture next to the ball surface and you should be fine.
