Greg,

As many times as this has been discussed here and asked for by other members, I would assume someone who posts here as much as you would have enough etiquette to comply with the request not to put tournament winners names in the subject title of your post.

There are those among us who have Tivo'd the thing to watch later.

It doesn't seem a difficult thing to ask for, does it?

excuse my tragic error---i hope no one was seriously injured or killed by it. the thought of me expressing joy for someone winning should be ended. never mind that he is a brunswick staffer and this is posted on a brunswick part of a forum. what about the people who recorded the show but won't watch it till tomorrow ? what is your proper etiquette as far as waiting time wise ?

go to the "pba" topic section and reprimand the people who mentioned mike's victory----they must be silenced !!!

Juggernaut is right.  It doesn't matter where you post it.  And it is entirely possible for you to express joy over him winning in a non-spoiler way.  Time-wise, it's hard to say, but I would say that if you haven't seen it by Monday, then all bets are off.

Why is the simplicity of this request always met with such venom?

It doesn't affect me any more since I have a normal day shift job now, but it used to bother me when I was on shift.  All that was ever asked was to not put the winner's name in the TITLE of the post?  Is it really that difficult?  I used to work every other weekend, but still had internet access at work.  When you work 12 hours straight, you check your favorite web sites when you have the chance.  I wouldn't look at the PBA forum because I knew there would be discussions of the show I was taping.  I would also generally skip the equipment forums which would be represented on the show.  However, the 10 newest posts appear on the home page.  So, even if I was trying to be careful, I would sometimes have the winner announced.  It does ruin the drama, especially in a close title match like today.

Of course, if a Brunswick guy hadn't of won, Greg never would have made the post.

Greg,

Jeez dude, what a classless attack on me for just a simple reminder, trying to look out for my fellow BR users who didn't know the outcome.

You post here a lot and I know you've had to have seen those posts requesting the winners names not be put in the subject titles.

There's nothing wrong with being happy for somone who has been through the fires and has made it to the top, Heck, that's great.  And there isn't anything wrong with being happy about that person being on staff with the company you prefer, just thought that, given the history of your past posts and the respect that I have had for them and the advice you have given from time to time,  I would've tought that you would have shown more respect for your fellow BR users than to insult not only me, but them also, by first flaunting your disrespect for this request, but now, also attacking me personally for simply reminding you of it.

I am sorry if I have offended you in some small way, but I do not and will not put up with ANYONE who so childishly reacts as you have.

I have enjoyed your posts and advice in the past, but sadly, you have just joined the ranks of the ignored.

  Another one bites the dust.

strider, since a brunswick staffer won and i posted it, then i didn't let you down, did I ? glad i could live up to your expectations. it's such a bad thing to mention the fact that a particular company's employee won or achieved an honor----that never happens in the real world, does it ?

The irony is that the arguing is continuously bumping this to the top.

It has NOTHING to do with the fact that you are happy for the guy and posted so.  Again, the problem is that you are going to ruin the outcome of the show for those that haven't seen it yet but still visit the site.  Why is it so hard to just not post the winner's name in the title of the post?  This has been discussed many, many times here and is a sort of unwritten BR rule.  None of the other Brunswick guys do it when their staffer wins, so why do you?  Jason Jenkins and Ron Hickland don't spoil it when one of their guys win, so again, why do you have to?  Just take his name out of the title and this wouldn't be an issue.

Unfortunately you are correct Andy.

Greg, just pointing out that you wouldn't have gone out of your way to post the winner were he throwing MoRich, Storm, or anyone else.  I know you like Brunswick and have had great success with them.  However, acting like a child with your biting sarcasm won't gain you any respect.

my ability of freedom of speech was chided by the other children on this post---i don't need to gain or earn their respect. the man who deserves our respect is mike mineman. that's what this post was supposed to be about. i will continue to make opinions and observations on this website until the website administator deems them offensive and/or unsuitable.

No Greg, you're the one in the wrong and I think you know it. Now you're just digging your heels in and being a petulant child.

It is pretty much a given in Internet etiquette that when you are watching a live sporting event that is going to be tape-delayed to other markets and/or DVR'ed by people who couldn't watch it live, you should at least wait a few hours before posting what you did.

Here's what your post should have been titled: "Congratulations to...(SPOILER INSIDE)".

And then you could have said whatever you pleased about Mike Mineman.

Unfortunately, your "freedom of speech" didn't come with any tact attached. You were wrong, and it's your responsibility to apologize for it.
