I'm In A Brunswick/ Lane #1 Dilema
« on: May 12, 2006, 09:28:15 AM »
Ok so...

Lane 1 is coming out with a new ball, the Carbide c2 or w/e.
Its made for medium to heavy oil lanes with a dullish(sp? lmao) coverstock. Thats what im wanting for my arsenal.

Heres my dilema...

I really want to use Brunswick as i dont like Lane 1 (sorry lane 1 ppl)

Will Brunswick release a ball of a certain extent comparable to the new Lane 1?

the Raging Inferno would be close.

most likely the Ultimate Inferno would match up to the Carbide Plus the best.

you say you want to use brunswick!!!   why???
the main difference between lane 1 and brunswick is lane one's weight block.
all lane one balls are made by brunswick,  and many have the same coverstock's with or without the same name,  such as power coil 17  etc. today columbia, brunswick, storm, and ebonite make most of all the balls on the market.
here's another shocker,  most golf clubs  about 90%  are made in china!!!
and many of the shafts come from japan!!!

Why would you not be open to "liking" to Lane #1 products?  The chief concern for most bowlers is the added cost of the ball compared to other companies.  FWIW, you can scout around and find pricing on most of the current inventory of Lane #1 prodcuts that is a stone's throw($20-40)from what a high end performance ball from other manufacturers.  I've tried them, like them, and would throw another ball made by them in a heartbeat.  However, there's a host of equipment on the market to try at comparably cheaper costs.  If you're not trying Lane #1 prodcuts simply because you're close-minded, then you'll never pull the trigger on a Lane #1 purchase and give it the effort necessary to realize it's full potential.

I agree with you 230. Mysef I use Brunswick, my whole arsenal is Big B.I am going to get the black cherry bomb just to try it out. I believe it's the right ball for my style. At one time i had every ball company in my arsenal.
I am going to give Lane #1 a try. I blow more money getting things I don't need. Keep an open mind. All the Ball companies make great balls.

Try the Scorchin Inferno, Ultimate inferno, For oily condition I love my Swamp Monster. Try the raging inferno. All of these are good balls. You can go to cheapbowlingballs.com and get a danger zone hpc.

What you say about most equipment being manufactured by a few companies is true.  However citing the fact that lane 1 is the "same" as brunswick is untrue.  First of all if two companies were the "same" one should purchase the cheaper one, Brunswick.  That is a mute point, however as they are not the same. They use different covers.  Although lane one covers are derivatives of Big B they are still differentiated, and the cores are also different.  If the company matches up well with you, by all means go for their stuff.  Also, bowling balls are not really like cars and other things in that they are not really all that complex to produce.  The manufacturing process is pretty standardized.  The reason that one purchases one company over another occurs in the design phase, where one can differentiate their product.

As far as a ball that will probably offer much of what the carbide plus will, the raging inferno is probably the closest with the Ultimate a close second.  Although I don't know much about it, the Scorchin seems to get longer than you may want.

Thats not a bad choice, however the reason I didn't mention it is that it will get longer than the Ultimate and it seems like to get something similar to the Carbide+ you'll need the ball to grab earlier and be more even.

thanks for suggestions...

I think the Strike Zone will be a good pick.

I'm going to see the new releases first before i buy a ball for that spot.
