Set up for the year
« on: August 03, 2005, 08:48:29 AM »
Ok.  Yeah, another arsenal topic.  I'm planning on actually bowling the whole year this year, and planning on actually doing well too, so here's the set up.  Found me a Classic Zone Red pin.  Either drilling it 5x3 with a flare reducing weighthole, or 4.5x5 with no weighthole.  I want it to be pretty weak so I can play more of a down and in when the shot starts to break down.  Also drilling a Strike Zone.  5x3 with a flare reducing weighthole, at about 1200 grit polish.  Want it to be my "benchmark" ball.  I also have a Smokin Inferno on the way.  I'm still a little lost on this one.  There's no reason to try and put it between my Strike Zone and Classic Zone, because I already have a Hot Rod Hybrid that'll fit there with a little polish.  However, I doubt I'm going to ever need more hook than my Strike Zone, and when the lanes start burning, I will either move left and stay with the SZ, or switch to the CZ or plastic if needed.  I know it'll still give me a different look than the SZ, but if I get the kind of reaction shape I want out of my Strike Zone, I might not ever use ANYTHING else.  I also *think* I snagged one of those Clear Gargoyles that was posted here yesterday, so that takes care of my plastic ball with a ton of style points.

I suppose I'll have to see what my SZ and CZ do first before I drill it.  I want to drill it, I just don't think I'll ever have a need for it.  Opinions from those familiar with all these since I haven't thrown any of them?
