Absolute
« on: September 07, 2005, 03:02:03 PM »
I used my Absolute for the first time today and did pretty decent with it. Shot a 217-247-157.  By the third game the lanes really started to dry out and had trouble keeping the ball on the right side of the lane.  What ball would be a next logical step down from the Absolute?  Absolute was drilled 3 1/2 pin to pap and pin next or a little below ring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug

A friend of mine has a Punisher as an arsenal addition to his AI. Both balls are drilled with pattern 2E and make a nice couple. The AI seems to be very versatile and playable on a wide range of conditions, while the Punisher really needs the dry to work. They do not overlap much.

Another step down could be the Rampage, it is more potent than the Punisher, but probably too much if you face really dry conditions.

I think that the SI is not a step down in performance, it is on the same level of aggressiveness as the AI, just with a different reaction setup with more length and pop OOB. I do not think that the SI will be a ball of choice when the lane is too dry for the AI.

"The smokin inferno is def the best step down from the Absolute. I have seen all my friends make this jump as the night goes on and are able to keep about the same line without much adjustment necessary. I will say that I haven't thrown either ball, but with the scores I see my friends and team mates put up, I will be ordering both of these balls shortly."

Brunsnick, what do you think about these two opposed opinions?

Maybe I was not clear enough? I do not think that the SI is an option for a ball to switch to when the AI burns out. From my observations of a friend's AI with drill pattern 2E to it, this takes quite a long time. The AI is very versatile at this.

If it gets that dry to put it away, I'd consider the SI to be too strong. It is an alternative to the AI as the 1st ball out of the bag on simloar conditions IMHO, but I am sceptical about its effective usability after the lane got played down? My friend has to switch to a Punisher after his AI is done. And normally, the Punisher already works well in the general lack of oil.

The polish makes the SI quite flippy when it hits dry ground. For me (but that's personal taste) not a very good basic reaction for spotty lanes, some carrydown and the danger of dry heads?

Therfore, I think a weaker ball is in any way a better choice for a late game addition to the AI.

Exactly.  What I would like to do is move to a weaker ball and move outside.
